Measurements, heck with the scale!

When self doubt and discouragement creeps in after being in a plateau for months, the scale looks less appealing.
I’ve been in a stall for months. I tightened my calorie deficit, increased exercise, did all the things I know help get things moving again (this isn’t my first rodeo). But one thing I hadn’t done since the very beginning? Take measurements.

Clothing sizes changed, sure… but how many inches had I actually lost? The thing I most remember about the day I took my first measurements, there wasn't enough tape to measure my hips, that was my WTF moment, "how in the heck did I allow myself to get here" it was absolutely depressing. So I finally pulled out the tape measure this week, and I'm so glad I did, 10" off my hips and 8" off my waist, 4 off my thighs. Arms I forgot to measure in the beginning, but if I took a guess, it would be at least 3"

If you’re on a long journey like me, don’t rely on the scale alone, track the inches. Seeing that progress, shifted my mindset 🙂

So YES, keep track of other methods to measure progress and relish in those sweet victories.

Kicking to the curb, I like this. I have days where kicking isn't enough LOL
 
Dexa scans are awesome. I was doing them yearly and it just gives you so much good information. Obviously body fat which is really helpful, but more importantly it can give you a pretty good gauge of muscle which is so easy to lose on GLP meds. Now that I'm done dropping weight and am really dialed in on building muscle, I'm doing them every 6 months. I didn't do my first until I was a year into losing and I really wish I had done one sooner.

Same here, measurements are the most accurate measurement for progress
