My clothes are falling off...

How would you strategize to save money on new clothes, knowing you have a long way to lose?

I'm down 30lbs and my phone is trying to undress me. Dang thing is heavy enough to pull my pants down!

I obviously need some new threads. I have 130lbs to go though, so I want to strategize a little bit and save some money.

What would you do?
•Buy clothes that fit now and just accept that you'll be getting another size soon, you're saving money on gray anyway
•Buy clothes that might be a little tight now and lose weight to fit into them better, in theory this should save money/clothes waste

I don’t think I’ve ever had clothes fit properly. There either too tight or falling off. I do get that sweet spot for several weeks a year where they fit perfectly.

If you are like me(prolly not), maybe? I still have 10-20yr old clothes that are new(some with tags & some that are still dry-clean fresh&crispy starched! From when I was lean & mean!! Maybe I will bring back a fashion style🤷
Either way, I have clothes to look forward to(hopefully).
Side note, I have 4 closets in my house and I looooove my old comfy dress clothes. And now maybe I have a chance of wearing them one day

buy cheaper clothes that fit you now. Buy stretchy clothes that will fit a wider range of sizes.

I have bought cloths 3 times now over the last 10 months. Not complaining just loving it.

Congratulations! Thats a good problem to have! Maybe get some belts + what you buy with elastic bands & possible tie strings to last longer until you reach your goal

Two words: Old Navy.

Disposable clothes I bought two pairs of shorts for 10 dollars the other day because my shorts from last year were literally falling down as I walked and I was afraid I was going to get arrested both for having shady peptides and pants falling down in public

Same here, I noticed today that my fat pants are falling off. Down 28.5 lbs., 31.5 to go to get to my approx. goal weight. Feels nice doesn't it?

Try getting some of your favorite or expensive clothes tailored but also splurge yourself. You deserve it, you've been bussing your ass. No better motivation to keep going than to reward yourself along the way.

Is that still a thing in this throw away society?

You can sew pants so they don't fall off pretty easily or just buy an elastic belt. You can even sew shirts as well. You don't need a sewing machine for basic stuff like pants waist. But for shirts, etc. it does help. As many have mentioned thift/goodwill/cheap stuff is another option.

It sounds like you need a belt and/clothes with a drawstring. Ratcheting belts are great.

I dropped ~60lb before I broke out the smaller work pants and athletic shorts. I swapped belts a long while back, I don’t remember the weight.

I still have 30-40lb to go, but I’m not interested in excessively baggy clothes.

Belts or strings would not have worked for my clothes, amazing what 10 months of reta will do.

How about thrifting a small wardrobe that fits you now, and just planning to continue doing that as needed? You could donate back the ones that no longer fit you . . . circle of life . . .
This is what I do. I can't afford to buy all knew until I hit my goal.

I go to good will and thrift stores. One reason is because I can't afford to keep buying clothes. I also wear lots of drawstring shorts and pants. Women has some cute styles that can be worn awhile through your weight loss.
But on a few weeks I think I might actually go to Old Navy or Walmart and buy a couple new outfits.

My problem is my height and monkey arms, hard to find Long/tall clothes at thrifts. Price I am happy to pay at this point.

Starting at 7xl which was becoming a problem where a lot of 7xl clothes were too tight to fit and the shops did not sell anything bigger, once I got to 3xl and the 7xl's were getting huge I got really cheap drawstring pants and some cheap shirts and tshirts at a cheapy department store in the $10 per item range, was not going anywhere much so it did not really matter, And another lot at L but more opportunity / thrift shop and finally some at medium and small once I got there and even found some from a decade before when I was last skinny. You could probably fit two of me in the 7xl pants now, but I threw everything big out.

I feel a bit bad because I threw away a lot of clothes that were annoyingly tight before I started reta. I didn't think I was particularly overweight but now my clothes are strangely baggy.

Big shirts are pump covers you earned. I basicly get a set of 3 heavyweight shirts every few weeks for about 23 bucks. The 4xlt were big when i was big but ive always hated tight clothes no matter my size. But now i swim in them. Those are for gym and pajamas. 3xlt are big on me but i definitely could fit 2x.. That will only happen when i get down another 30 or so. I wouldnt buy anything tailored or form fitting or expensive full price however until i hit my goals.

Get yourself on Vinted. Buy clothes that fit you, and then put them back on Vinted when they become too big. Use the money from them to buy smaller sizes.
