So I finally decided to jump on the Retatrutide peptide bandwagon. I was always a thin individual in my youth, but then life happened. Raising a family, a more sedentary lifestyle due to an unexpected mobility issue and eventually menopause all finally caught up with me. In my 20s, at 5’6” I weighed between 115-125 and could eat whatever/whenever I wanted. But as my age gradually crept up, my weight seemed to creep up right along with it. In my 30s my weight ranged between 130-140, then in my 40s it ranged from 140-150. When I hit menopause in my 50’s that number had climbed even further. At age 55 even though I was trying to exercise regularly and eat decently, I eventually found myself at my highest weight, 183. And I was miserable. Finally decided to take the bull by the horns and began a strict regimen high protein, no sugar diet while only incorporating lite healthy fats and healthy carbs. Managed to lose 55 lbs. in 5 months by being extremely vigilant to the process and not ever cheating . Unfortunately, maintaining that weight proved to be unrealistic for me over the long-term. The moment I let up my on my vigilance the pounds once again slowly began to creep up. Even after going back on my previously successful diet my weight just refused to budge much below 148. And there I would stay stalled for months or even increase. After awhile of dealing with no progress I became frustrated and eventually began to develop the attitude of “Oh, Screw it! Life is just too short to constantly deprive myself of everything with nothing to show for it - I may as well indulge in a few things since I’m not losing weight anyway!”. Which I guess is how I found myself at the ripe old age of 63 weighing approx. 160 bs. I know that in comparison to many others, that is not overly heavy - but I carry it all in my gut. Unfortunately I am the often warned about “apple shape”. And for somebody with my history of being relatively thin for so many years, this not how I want expected to end up. Not to mention that I also have the added incentive of attending a high school reunion coming up in the fall….and I do NOT want to show up there looking like this when the last time everyone saw me, I was a Skinny Minny, lol! Nothing like a little pride to get one’s butt back in gear, I guess!

Anyway, that is how I now find myself here on this message board doing research and looking for answers as to whether it would be worth my while to try a peptide like retatrutide. A couple years ago I did attempt semaglutide at a clinic for 3 months and saw very little results with it - only had a total 5 lb loss. I could do better than that with just dieting alone, so gave up on it. Eventually I decided to start exploring other weight loss and a1c lowering med options. Got my doc to put in a prescription to a local compounding pharmacy for tirzepatide - but the very day he submitted it the pharmacy I was told that they were no longer authorized to compound it anymore. Perhaps it was for the best, as I was also informed by the pharmacy that my military insurance would not have covered it anyway since my BMI is technically not over 30 (yet!) - despite the fact my a1-c numbers from 2 separate blood tests done in the spring both put me in the pre-diabetic range. Both my dad and his mother died of diabetes, so I’m ultra concerned about not getting to that point myself. Spoke to my doctor’s nurse about being unable to get the tirzepitide compounded locally and told her that I would have had to have to pay out-of-pocket for it anyway. She then mentioned that there is a peptide called Retatrutide the doctor has been recommending which has a similar efficacy to prescription GLP1 meds and can be purchased otc without a prescription. Looked into it a bit and liked how it it sounded. Discussed it with my son, a research chemist (not in the weight loss field, unfortunately!). He agreed that the idea of Retatrutide being a triple agonist showed promise and liked how it may possibly help in maintaining muscle mass as well as also seemingly help in decreasing potential fatty liver disease, so with his approval I decided to give it a try. With his guidance I did my first injection last week - first three days there were little to no side effects but the third day nausea and lots of exhaustion kicked in. Never did lose my appetite, tho. In fact, I actually got hungrier lol! I did drop a couple pounds - but that was made up for this week when I apparently gained a couple back . Took my second shot yesterday so far no side real effects again…yet… and no real difference on the scale either. I guess we shall see what if any future progress I may make. Looking forward to learning more about all of this from those who’ve been through it a lot longer than I have..

Retatrutide is a GLP-1 drug and its not available OTC. Its not approved by the FDA at all, so you can't even buy it with a prescription. The only people that are getting it legally are in clinical trials. I mean we are all doing this too, so no judgement coming from me about it .. but I just think you should be aware of the situation.

It has been my understanding that Retatrutide starts slow. What's your dosage?
