I have my first order of tirz in hand. I’m sure I Overpaid compared to most of you here. But I wanted to get a few trial doses to see how I did with it and did not want to wait forever so I got it from a domestic supplier.

I have a couple questions, first for those of you that have lost a significant amount of weight, did you follow the traditional schedule or did you stay on a certain dosage until you felt like it was not effective any longer? My thought was I’m going to start at 2.5 mg and see how long that is effective for before I bump up to five. I would definitely appreciate any insight from those of you that have already had experience with this.

My second question is this, when should I start? I’m off tomorrow and I go to work the next day. I was thinking about starting tomorrow but was wondering if that was enough time before I have to go to work to see if I will have any nausea or other side effects. Otherwise, I wait until next weekend. I kind of wanted to start this week in hopes to not completely overdo it for the holidays. But for the most part, I just don’t want to take it tomorrow and then feel like complete trash at work the following day.

Thanks for any insight you all can give. I’d also appreciate any tips or tricks any of y’all might have.

I started on this same day last year (12/19/24) just to get going before the holidays and I’m really glad I did. I would typically put on 10 pounds over Christmas and New Years. Not last year 😂. I’ve lost 90lbs over the last year.

I followed the Lilly protocol and basically titrated up in dose 2.5mg every 4 weeks as long as my side effects were under control. Although I experience no nausea or vomiting on tirzepatide, so it was fairly easy to titrate up quickly. My main side effect has been constipation, which can be debilitating too, but not like nausea or vomiting. Some people are not so lucky. I have a family member on 2mg because she can’t tolerate higher.

Many people titrate up slowly, but clinical studies suggest that 10 and 15mg doses are the most effective, so that’s where I wanted to be. I stayed at 10mg the longest, maybe 8 or 10 weeks.

It’s your journey, you should do what you want. But definitely don’t titrate up if you’re having bad side effects. You won’t know how tirzepatide affects you until you take it. You may feel nothing or you may have side effects. You also don’t have to take 2.5mg if you want to start at 1mg or 1.5mg. That’s a popular strategy called microdosing.

Good luck!

Well, first off congratulations on your weight loss! That is awesome! Thank you for your reply, I think that I might just go ahead and start tomorrow. I like the idea of not putting on another 10 pounds around the holiday. The constipation side effect is definitely one that concerns me. What did you do to help with this side effect if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks, I’m super excited about the weight loss so far. I have about 25-35 pounds to go, but confident that I’ll get there.

As far as the constipation, after suffering a couple of really bad backups early on, my primary care doctor suggested that I take Marilax everyday. And that has worked like a charm. I’m currently working with a nutritionist who would like me to get off the Marilax, but that’s a work in progress. Lots of people in the forum swear by Mag07 or other magnesium products, but I’ve never tried those.

Drink plenty of water, get good amounts of protein, and think positively. You got this!
