Ozempic may be reshaping the brain, scientists say

Woah ok... Italy does not like whatever that is - I tried to open it and got a scary looking message saying there was CSA content on it and I wasn't allowed to advance. Eeeek. If the pubic administration was more organised here I might be worried about my permission to remain!

Lmao bro, you live in EUROPE, practically a prison colony with no freedoms. You still raw dog the internet without a VPN? How tf are you not incarcerated right now?

I wish there was more info on actual physical brain changes seen, but still interesting. I for sure believe it's working some brain magic, There is way more going on than just getting thin.

interesting article. I mean these GLP drugs are great at removing all those habits (smoking, snacking etc)

Who’s going to pay for that trial? lol. Its ridiculous that someone has to become a billionaire before we have meaningful healthcare

If you get less than 6 months in Belgium, worst case you get an ankle monitor 😇

My father died of Parkinson's, and I have ADHD, both conditions connected to dopamine. There's been recent research on Parkinson's saying that there are associated gut changes they now believe take place before there are other symptoms. Reading this article and other info, I don't think it's as simple as saying GLP1 drugs could treat or even prevent Parkinson's, but I do think there are some connections here and it will be interesting to see what we collectively learn about it all.

Actually pretty good for a newspaper article, not trying to promote some scaremongering issue like dangerous grey peptides or muscle loss. It discusses the huge range of interesting effects GLP's have on the nervous system and elsewhere, at this stage mostly in animal models rather than humans.
The study itself showing brain changes with GLP treatment sounds far from conclusive , very small sample of adolescents whose brains might be changing with age or the weight loss rather than the drug.
They are still very actively researching the possibility of GLP's in slowing or preventing Parkinson's.

Please, just go and watch some more fox news. Maybe yell MAGA a few times to make sure that the leftist, fascist, and communistic European ideology does not infect you via the internet or your reta shot…

Man, you sure know how to derail a thread.

Not a MAGA, I'm a Libertarian. But as a Libertarian, we take great offense to being jailed for having an opinion on something.

But good for you to, like a fascist, make an assumption on my political leanings.

Libertarians also take great offense to our government trying to prevent us from doing something we want to do. Like better ourselves thru the purchase of Peptides, among other things.

Notice a trend here?

<Insert your witty reply here, Cheezebag>

The internet is not a law free environment. Who slanders on the internet or spreads hate speech should be punished. In Europe that even happens sometimes. Not often enough. In the US, right wing organisations demand free speech when it concerns them, and ask for punishment for others as soon as convenient (Charlie Kirk comes to mind and the demand to jail everyone who spoke out on the net). This happens in Europe also, but according to law, not political sentiment (except for the right leaning countries). And please, do publish the epstein files and jail every one involved, no matter which party or country.
Cheers

This is something I actually know about!

I was at a conference and talked to one of the researchers who worked on this. Basically the TLDR is that there’s a type of ecoli in the gut that can produce molecules that travel up the vagus nerve and cross the brain blood barrier causing proteins in the brain to fold incorrectly and that contributes to causing Parkinson’s.

Unfortunately the gut micrbiome is extremely complicated and not fully understood. We may read online about ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria but it is more complicated, the diversity and concentrations of each type of bacteria determine its effect on the body. It’s a super exciting area of research and we are using AI to better model and cluster together the different types of micro biome populations we see by projecting the high dimensional space into a lower dimensional embeddings space. Hopefully in the future we will be able to exploit this knowledge for future treatment. Certainly we need more research on how GLP1s change the population to see if we can manipulate this.

Sorry maybe that was too off topic but hopefully someone may find it interesting!

Super interesting read, and it was great to read about both the successes and failures of disease treatment with GLP-1s.

Here's hoping tirz can mitigate risk & undo some of the crap I've done to my body!😅
