Peoples' reactions to weight loss

I’m loud and proud. I get asked all the time how I have lost the weight. Down 85 lbs in 15 months. My answer DRUGS. That usually gets a laugh and a really like Ozempic?

I’m not ashamed, I f#cking ecstatic. I am a nurse and an open book. Like diarrhea of the mouth open book.

I have an awful family history full of obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, strokes and early death. Zero peeps on dads side have made it past 65 and I only know of 1 that made it to 65.

In a little more than 2 weeks I will be 58, dear dad died 2 months after he turned 59.

These meds are a life saving miracle and I will sing their praise to anyone that is willing to listen. ( and a few who couldn’t care less )

I can spew out in minutes the litany of benefits these drugs entail. Cardiovascular protection, decrease risk of 10 out of 13 cancers caused by obesity, diabetes, decreased inflammation in autoimmune diseases, and even slows the progression of Parkinson’s. What’s not to love?

Dear ol dad had a saying “there is nothing worse than a reformed anything “. I’m that reformed fat girl, wanna hear my eulogy? Oh wait you kinda just read !!!

Amen!

I’m unconcerned if anyone wants to judge.

And if anyone has questions, I’m happy to answer honestly and openly.

I’ve also had a few friends and family members move forward and start their treatment/research.

We are saving lives! Our own and maybe others by example.

ironically, the most judgement i face is right on this forum.

you're doing it too fast
we don't like what you're eating
we don't like the peptides you're taking
we don't like how you're taking them
don't do any any hormones
you're gonna kill yourself
you need to leave because we can't handle it
blah blah blah

Well you are in need of mothering from what I have read, lol.
Maybe view it as love and not judgment. 💋

I am an oncologist by training and do cancer drug trials for a living. I have no problem telling people that I had been heavy and obese most of my life and that diet, exercise, and the GLP-1s work wonders....after all I do drugs for living....

I find people are receptive to hearing about GLP-1s if you educate them in a manner they can understand and appreciate.

However, I really like the Swiss Clinic or Gila Monster stuff if that doesn't work...

i gotta take advantage of your expertise. what do you think about tesa or HGH making cancer grow better? Or causing a few cancer cells to start forming a tumor? Or just internet fear mongering?

The other side of the argument is that it makes your body stronger to prevent cancer. Increase t-cell production?

I lost 50 lbs in the past 6 months. I recently saw family members, then saw a friend elsewhere. In both instances, each person was shocked at how different I look. They went on and on about how I look like a different person.

My question is: I wish to lose 30 more lbs to hit my realistic target weight -- for a healthy BMI. If I lose 30 lbs more -- then people will be even more shocked. Any advice how to deal with this? 1) Should I try to lose the 30 lbs next year? Or, 2) I prefer to steadily lose it now - as I am on a steady roll. Then, I can stop - and hit maintenance dose. How do you deal with the extreme reactions from people?
I lost 110lbs after bariatric surgery and through meticulous diet. People said insane stuff to me. I never admitted to anyone I had bariatric surgery. I just told them I did keto and counted my macros, and they WATCHED me eat keto and count macros, so it was believable. The bottom line is it's my body and it's not anyone else's business to comment on what I am or am not doing with it. I was real happy with the weight loss, and real happy with the progress I made, and that was the only thing that really mattered. If you are on a roll, stay on that roll. The reason I am turning to gray market is because I cannot seem to be able to get back on track to take off the 30 lbs of regain.

Weight loss, especially rapid weight loss, causes dramatic changes. The face is where it is most noticeable. I’m 63 and just starting tirz. I accept that I will look older as I lose more weight. I don’t give a crap what other people think.
I’d rather look 70 than to die of a heart attack at 63.

If anyone asks, I mention the GLP-1s. If they want to judge me for it, then they're probably not worth being around anyway. And I figure the more people are open about it, the less stigma it will have.

I wouldn't do what you do
If someone asked me if I would suggest they do what you do, I'd say no

But I figure most of us have enough going on in our own life that we shouldn't spend our time worrying about a grown adult that is informed on the risks deciding to inject whatever the hell they want into themselves.

I'll sure read about it and be entertained, though.

I have lost 107 lbs since April 2024. 140 in the last 1 1/2 . I work in an urgent care . I had a mom and daughter I saw 2 weeks ago. I wrote the RX and said it was good seeing them again . They asked the front desk employee what happened to the “big guy” that they saw back in Feb……. They couldn’t believe it was me when they told them
lol ….. happened about a dozen times now
