Peptide filtering

Just wanting to see the consensus on if people filter their peptide or if they just use it as it comes.

Second fold using v bac vs others. If you are filtering does the bac matter that much. Ive seen people mention some bac have failed sterility and does filtering affect that?

My first vial came from a friend and pretty sure it wasnt filtered and has been fine however with my order i plan to filter.
 
I filter, and I only use Hospira BAC.

99% of your injection is BAC. For those of us in the US, why would why would you not use tested, sterile, non-pyrogenic BAC when it is so easily available? The cost is insignificant in the grand scheme of things; $10 every 3 months or so for me. I wasted more than that on unnecessary purchases at the grocery store this morning.

I do see that you are in the UK. I hear that there are a couple of sources that will sell Hospira to you, but I acknowledge it is tougher.
 
The first two vials that I got from a US reseller I didn't filter. I used Amazon BAC water. As it was my first time dealing with peptides, I really didn't know any better tbh. I just got a gray order for reta and GHK-CU and I filtered both using Hospira this time. I figured I can at least get out as much impurities as I can, even though it doesn't help with endotoxins. But I guess that's the risk we take dealing in gray.

You can pull a couple mL into the syringe before or after filtering and do an air purge. I usually do it after by disconnecting the syring from the filter, pulling air, reconnecting and push it through.

Personally I only mix half of the BAC into the original vial, filter the resulting double strength solution into my new sterile vial ( or in my case, pen cartridge), then push the rest of the BAC through the filter. I keep as much of the pep as possible this way.

I've done both, and subject to change, but air is the current preference.

If the 13mm holdback is .15ml, and I'm at 30mg/ml, that's 4.5mg in the filter, or $1.02 of Reta.


Another idea:
60mg Reta, my total BAC will be 2ml to hit 30mg/ml. Use 1 ml for the initial recon, put it through the filter, then rinse the initial vial with the balance of the BAC, plus the ~.15ml. The peptide content in the rinse will be very minimal anyways, no purging required.

This matters more with higher mg vials or more expensive peptides, like 120mg Tirz, 140mg Reta, or Cag/Tesa (4-6x the cost of Reta per mg).

Needles are only $.09, a barrel is only $.15, and a filter is ~$.51. Going the rinse method uses one filter, two barrels, and four needles (vent, filter, recon, rinse). That's all of $1.17 in supplies.

My friend here does the same. I might do that option. I'll do the next vials, not sure who I want to try. Might try the BFF. Math says 1 more 6mg shot each on these latest R40 vials. I think maybe 2.
 
I always filter for sterility, however consider your safety from another perspective. I noticed rubber stopper debris in both my BAC vial AND my reconstituted peptides, and it was very difficult to spot. Besides the nastiness we usually think of when using filters, remember that there may be very small physical particles that you may be injecting into yourself/test subjects which a filter could catch. So there are many reasons to use filters outside of sterility concerns.

Did you jump on the WW 140mg? Still open. I've still been tempted, as it shows in my "order sorter as open.

That'll keep us going a while. I've debated this one a while. I'm gonna jump on it. It's right under the two there I just ordered. Message me the supplier if you want. I just looked and saw a name, but not 100% sure who that is.
I see it now in order sort.
 
I saw the video clip of them reconstituting an R140. It took 9 minutes to dissolve the puck. I may have to jump on it just because I maybe couldn't stand myself if I didn't. Still, It took 8 months to go through an R50 kit and that's with two people, but I'd be ready for the peptocalypse.

Same, I can't just can't miss this one. Been tossing it around forever. A R140, yowzers. We just did 6 weeks on two R40 vials, and have one to go math wise, but sure looks like two more.

9 minutes with only 1ml of BAC, best I recall... proof of concept.

I plan on filtering into a 5ml vial. With my current dose being 16mg/week, I can go through a vial in a reasonable time (8 weeks). It could make sense to split into multiple vials if the shelf life was longer.

I forgot to add the vial cost to the filtering supplies pricing, $1.75 per vial makes $2.92 in material cost, unless you want a filter on the vent needle then it's $3.43. Alcohol wipes add another $.03-.05 if we're getting pedantic.
 
Some great info on this thanks for the replies. Is it worth filtering the vent as seems like a waste guess it depends on the person?

I'm 40 next month and need anther decade to get to the high side of what AI estimated from my culminated data, at max trial doses for the respective peptides... seems like we're equally hopeless 🤣

I was pushing 5.5 years at 12mg a week between my wife and I, now, yikes. I hope to have 9 left easy.

This WW r140 gb is almost too cheap. I refuse to believe that the price would have prohibitively high on 5ml vials. I have concerns about solubility even after transferring to a bigger vial, so I'll wait for a more reasonable kit. Lilly itself claims solubility around 25mg/ml to avoid lipid aggregation issues.
