Hit goal weight but needed to quit Reta due to adhedonia. I topped out at 1mg of Reta twice a week. More than that made me violently ill. Looking to just stick to a maintenance dose on Tirz and let it work its magic for inflammation and the other helpful effects.

So do I start out at .5mg of Tirz twice a week and plan to chill there as long as it works?

Since you are at maintenance and want to avoid being ill, that sounds sensible.
I started at 1.25, which worked well for me.
1.0 might have been even better.
Gradually I increased the dose, titrating no more than 0.5 at a time to keep side effects minimal.

I’ve been at 2.5 on tirz since the beginning one month ago. Probably could’ve gotten away with less, but definitely haven’t need more. The titration schedule says to increase but there’s no need. I am pairing with a small dose of Reta for the glucagon benefits, but I could honestly reduce the tirz. 2mg sounds about right. But if you’re super sensitive, never hurts to try less.

I would start replacing like 0.25mg of reta with tirz for week or so. Then 0.5mg, then .75mg. once fully on tirz, you can adjust the dose.

I’ve been off the Reta so no point in reintroducing. Going to make the switch directly to Tirz and hopefully I won’t have the same side effect.

You're at goal weight and got there with a silly low amount of Reta, good for you.

I've bridged from Tirz to Reta, but I expect to bridge back to Tirz at some point.

You're taking tirz presumptively to control appetite/food noise. Remember it takes ~24 hours for the injection to peak (Tmax) and start with your .5mg idea, sit with it and see how you feel. Take another dose when it seems like you're getting the twangs of food noise or appetite beyond what you're wanting. Keep notes of when you take what you take and let your appetite lead the way vs the calendar or fixed schedule. After you see what you need, develop a schedule around that.

For me I notice food noise coming back before hunger issues (hunger was never really my issue, it was the "I could eat" noise). On the bridge, when I noticed myself thinking about food, I'd take a bump of Tirz to control the noise while Reta moved to a therapeutic range... it took two pins. I'd also take it before a known "stressor" to give me additional capacity, although it proved to not be an issue.

I was talking to a coworker and he tried Tirz for the first time this week @2.5mg. He got sick that night and said heartburn kept him up all night. He felt better day 3. Everyone is different. Give it go at a lower dose and see. Won't know until you try. Best of luck.

Update. Into my third .5mg dose of Tirz going twice a week and my food intake has not slowed down in the slightest. My only side effect is gross burps the day after injection and after that it’s like I didn’t take anything. Going to go up to .75mg twice a week starting tomorrow.

I don’t want to overshoot the mark and with the half-life I know what I’ve already taken on Sunday is a little bit cumulative.

I couldn’t handle the blahs on Reta, but I kinda miss how fast and harsh it was. My metabolism felt so utterly owned. 😂 But I think given a little time and the fact that so far I feel very normal on Tirz this might be a better answer.

Update: I’m at 1mg twice a week and the Tirz ain’t Tirzing. I had a full dinner of burger and fries and then a giant cookie with a glass of milk. Though that cookie is definitely making me feel sick.

I miss the take-it-or-leave-it feelings about junk food.

Next dose I’m jumping to standard 2mg.

Maybe a bit late for this advice, but another option would be to just dial back your reta dose and see if it reduces the anhedonia.
