While I assume this is in jest, doing that would drive a lot of people who might be valuable contributors away. I’m too old for drama.

I mean, if we did, dollars to doughnuts I would end up on the chopping block on week one. I'm not actually allowed to do anything full on mean spirited, because if I do, my karma is INSTANT. My whole family is like that except my paternal grandfather, who was sadistic, manipulative, shockingly cruel, and lived a full life with considerable financial award and died surrounded by adoring women. My mom says he doesn't count because "he worked for the OTHER side, honey."

I just realized that one of my skills is alcohol ink art. If I just learn calligraphy, I can honest to god MAKE mean greeting cards. Beautiful, professional ones. I so badly want to make the Sympathy one, I can SEE the irises and the little inked-in butterfly, except I'd never send it and it would break my rule about "I don't ever make and sell things that people might hurt themselves or others with." Alas.

Thanks, man. Although, it shouldn't be a surprise. AI writing has to be based on the work of people who write like me and better than me. I remember Anthropic even paid compensation for using the patented writings of others or was it somebody else? On Grammarly, there is a feature called Readability score. When I first wrote the book, my score was 29. I had to spend a month to dumb it down and still got down only to 37. I guess teaching AP English Lang has made it worse. On the Grammarly Readibility thing, they say that it is recommended to get a score of between 60 and 70, which is supposedly grade 8 reading level. They claim that this is the average reading level of American adults according to the Flesch Reading Ease test. It sucks for me but it has become a habit now.

Well imho, not many of those with 8th grade reading level are buying a lot of books, so I'd disregard that advice, unless your subject is specific to that group?

That's what I thought too, at first. But it is. As in, most books are written at that level. No fancy vocabulary, no fancy rhetorical devices, no sophisticated sentence structure. I can’t agree with LOTR being in that category. Simplified enough sentence structures, if you can get through 3 pages of Tom Bombadil describing blonde hair 😩 my first proper novel as a kid was the hobbit, I loved it. I’m 33 now and still haven’t fought my way through LOTR.

I'm a calligrapher (and watercolor artist). I can teach you 🙂 I send greeting cards and definitely don't think I am mean. Us artsy fartsies are sometimes misjudged!
