Psychedelic Drugs like ibogaine compounds To Become Legal

Ibogaine is such a weird compound. Never used it, but looking into it I was hesitant to touch it. Which is saying something lol.

When I read about it for the first time. Before I anything else, I thought about where I’d go to get some.

Now that I read more I see it’s made from the roots of a shrub from Africa. So I guess I’d find it about as easy as Khat.

They sell kratom down at the local head-shop and I haven’t tried that, so I’ll probably give this one a pass as well.

Ibogaine produces a two-phase experience—initially visionary and dream-like with vivid imagery and altered perception, followed by an introspective period marked by lingering side effects, such as nausea and mood disturbances, which may persist for days. Long-term risks include mania and heart issues such as long QT syndrome, and potentially fatal interactions with other drugs.

Sounds like fun. Not

Here's a link to Governor Perry and W. Bryan Hubbard on JRE a couple of weeks ago discussing their work on pushing this through, and here's the OG episode from a year ago. Ibogaine is a long trip, and dangerous outside of a clinical setting due to the life threatening arrhythmias it can cause, but it is life-changing.

Other psychedelics have great results as well, but not as significant, and they often require more sessions with the addition of Motivation Enhancement Therapy for lasting behavioural change. They do still work though.

In a recent psilocybin-for-AUD study I was involved in, all participants who received the treatment still remain off of alcohol two years later, with little to no desire for alcohol. Those who took the placebo, benefitted as well, but to a far lesser degree.

I'm fond of kratom. It's just a mild opioid with a dopamine component, so if you find yourself in need of a mild opioid you'll have what you need if you have kratom.

I've never had a "sweet tooth" for opioids, and because of this I was able to use kratom regularly and sometimes daily for a couple of years. I was also able to quit easily.

Those who are more enticed by opioids should steer far clear, as they often have a harder time quitting or switch over to 7oh or the newer MGM-15 which are much more potent.

I wouldn't judge a substance based on the Wikipedia article alone LOL.
