Placing an order with QSC for the third time, and every time they've quoted a completely incorrect price. I've asked them where the costs are, understanding that they charge $40 in shipping. but they are now claiming they charge an additional 20% of the total amount as a reship insurance policy.

They have to be taking the p**s here.

I placed an order through TCI the other day and it was smooth sailing. The order was placed two weeks after and arrived before QSC. No reship policy, consistent communication, and excellent packaging. I know there are some diehard QSCs out there, but I just think there are better vendors to deal with at the moment.

Think I'll move on.

You’re in Australia, which has customs that seizes a lot of packages. I think they’ll allow you to skip the insurance and take the loss if your customs intercepts the package, which is probably what you got from TCI but were lucky and didn’t have to find out. If they instead built that into the normal price it would mean all of us Americans and others are pitching in to pay for your country’s harsh enforcement which doesn’t seem like a great solution. Charging you optional insurance coverage is perfectly reasonable, this is hardly the bait and switch you’re presenting it to be.

It's not an incorrect price. There are quite a few vendors that charge the 20% insurance to places like Australia and Canada. But you can request to not pay it, and they will just not re-ship if it gets seized. Given the likelihood of it being seized in certain countries, it's kinda worth it.
