I read through a recent topic by @kaahhillll and wanted to start something similar but from a woman's perspective. My intent is not to go into detail on specifics, but instead to share how the experience started for me and how it continues to go.
I have spent many weeks reading and researching GLP medications, however I will add that what I have learned so far is minutiae many times over compared to what's out there and what others have experienced.

47yo, female, perimenopause.
CW is 210. GW is 180. My goals are starting small; therefore, this is my 1st goal to achieve.

I started taking Ozempic, through insurance coverage, about 2 years ago. I lost about 17 pounds over 1 year. Insurance stopped covering it and I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. I tried so many avenues but never succeeded. I have sense gained the weight back. I never got above 1mg.
I've tried many diets, metformin, and walking. Metformin didn't seem to work, and I just couldn't stick with anything else long enough.
I love food. I binge secretively and have for many years.
Past doctors and friends have said cut out carbs. Just stop eating so much. See a therapist. Count your calories. Do something else. All pretty easy if you don't have an obsession with eating. Just like most of us here, it's the food noise that doesn't stop. It's constant and the anticipation triggers my dopamine.

Looking back, I am grateful that insurance stopped covering it. Ozempic was pretty much handed to me. I didn't read or research anything about taking it and what things would start happening to my body later.

Possibly like many, I started this journey by seeing things on social media. Various social media sites that were telling you just enough to peak your interest. Enough to know that there must be a way people are able to get a GLP1.
I actually found it quite fun making my way through this mole maze. Between TikTok, Reddit, Google and a few others. These all landed me here. It felt like I found the treasure.

I wrote so many notes, scribbled out, started over. I did this many times before I felt confident with the vendor I wanted to use. Purchased 12mg of Retatrutide and a couple of bottles of BAC.
Now onto detailed notes on vitamin, probiotic and supplement intake. What brands are best. When to take them. What to take them with. What not to take them with. Do they absorb differently with my prescription medication (antidepressant).
How much protein, fiber and probiotics to shoot for. Got it all ordered and separated into a daily vitamin container.
My list consists of probiotics, daily vitamins, magnesium glycinate, super greens, Lions Main, Omega3 fish oil, Zinc, and Colligan.
Grocery shopping and meal prep for the week is done.

What dose will I start with. So many start differently. Decided to start with 1mg (12mg peptide, 1.2ml BAC). Changed my mind and decided to do .5mg dose.

Now I'm ready to poke.
 
Day 1: Injected .5mg in lower abdomen.

Within 2 hours I felt a bit nauseous. Just enough that I didn't want to eat dinner. Lessened as the evening went but still didn't want to eat. However, drinking still sounded good (not alcohol).
Noticed some burping. Not a lot but borderline indigestion feeling.
By evening (9:00pm) I felt extremely tired.
Went to bed and remember having very intense dreams.
Woke at 7am and still felt really tired.
Pushed through and drank my probiotic and greens.
Took a yogurt and some fruit for breakfast but never ate it. Wasn't hungry and wasn't thinking about food (was this all in my head??).
Sipped on water from morning through lunch and ate lunch at a normal time.
3pm and still not hungry nor looking for snacks. Forced myself to eat the yogurt from breakfast.
No longer tired but a slight headache off and on. No nausea. No dry mouth.

It started a bit rough with symptoms. Wasn't expecting anything this early but it is what it is and we're going to trek through. I will continue to give updates as I have them.
 
Day 2:

Hiccups something horrible last night. It’s not abnormal for me to get hiccups but it was really hard getting them to stop. Noticed more burping than usual as well.

Felt a lot more rested this morning. Though I still had a slight headache throughout the morning. Tylenol helps.

Noticing a bit more food noise which is surprising since the symptoms came on so strong yesterday.

It was hard to eat yesterday and nothing sounded good. Today things sound good and I’ve been tempted to snack on junk.

I will just keep drinking my water and eating the meals and snacks that I have prepared while at work.
I do notice a full feeling when I ate lunch so I'm sure it's working on something inside 🙂

One thing to note is that I didn't research BAC water ahead of time. and now realize I should have. I ordered 2 30mg bottles from Amazon. Which I now know isn't the best choice.
I suppose I could test it but, in the meantime, I've ordered more from Bacteriostatic Wholesale.
 
Day 3:

Still some food noise and lack of appetite suppression today. I’m still trying to stick mostly to what I meal prepped for the day.
I am not too concerned since the dosage that I started on was really low (.5mg) and it’s a possibility that my BAC water wasn’t any good.

I’m hoping this new BAC water is more reliable. It’s scheduled to be delivered today so I will likely toss my current vial and start a fresh one with .5 again this weekend.

I mentioned tossing it because how would I know if it's effective if I added a poor grade BAC. So do I continue another couple weeks and hope it works or just start over. My gut says start over.
I doubt the bac had any effect on the vial. I'll never stop someone from exercising caution but unless the PH is off on the bac it is very unlikely to have caused it to degrade. You can get PH paper from Amazon.

I can certainly give that a try. Is this information your group likes to have? If the BAC I purchased on Amazon decent, or most just don't even go that route?
 
After a year on Dulaglutide and still gaining weight, my cardiologist suggested changing to monjaro. After reading and investigated decided to do reta instead. Went for my 6 month check up and he walked in with his residents & medical students and asked what I had been doing. He couldn't believe that I am down 77 lbs (27%) . My labs have all corrected with decrease in cholesterol, fatty liver numbers gone, renal function improved, testost level sky rocketed, EKG improved, A1C and fasting glucose & hemo values normal normal and my hips/knees are thanking me. I told him he was the one that had suggested it and was shocked as he said that no one usually does what he suggests.

What a great feeling! Congratulations! I hope to see some of those results too.
 
I just want to cry. I am so happy for you guys that are getting great results from reta. I so badly want to feel something but unfortunately it's not doing anything at all for me. I hate the food noise. So discouraged.

Thanks for sharing! Your journey sounds similar to how mine started. I can totally relate to how you got where you are today. Mine started on Trizep first because of really bad joint pain from an auto immune disease. Got rid of the pain and dropped 40 lbs in 6 months. Great intro to this world for sure. Now i'm trying to revamp things and trying to be patient but it's hard.

Week 2

Week one has passed 😄 Minimal side effects and noticeable loss in food noise. Was hesitant to bump from .5mg to 1mg but decided to just move forward with 1mg for a few weeks.
SW: 210. CW: 203.

Week 3

Week 2 complete. Surprised to have only lost .8 pounds. That's with remaining in a calorie deficit and making sure to get over 100g of protein and within ranges of fiber. Most of what I ate was clean.
Food noise wasn't too bad most days and it took quite some time to feel hungry. I tried to stay consistent with drinking water because of mild constipation.
Stuck with 1mg again but poked in my arm instead of my stomach. Always a mystery on how the week will go!
 
Late entry-7/31/25
Just wanted to share something I noticed. I’ve never really been someone who breaks down over stress—but when it does hit, my first instinct has always been to reach for food. Not out of hunger, but for comfort. Of course, it never actually helps and usually just ends in frustration or regret.

Today was one of those high-stress days at work. I realized something kind of surprising: I didn’t think about food. Not once. My mind was completely focused on whether I should say something to the person who caused the stress, and if so, how to go about it.

It might sound small, but for me, that’s a big shift. Stress, boredom, anxiety, even excitement—those have always been triggers. Breaking that pattern, even just this once, feels like something worth noticing.
 
Week 4

Week 3 complete. Another great week with no real symptoms. There are still those little things that let me know it's working, but it's not uncomfortable. No food noise, not tempted by food/sweets sitting in front of me, feeling fuller sooner.

What I've come to realize is I don't have that urge to take food that's available just because it's sitting there. On several past occasions I would question why a colleague cuts their cookie in 1/2. Why is there always a donut cut in fours? Some saying, "that's way too big-I could never eat all that," and I'd be thinking, I could easily eat two!

Now I get it. I am that person. And the funny thing is, it's not even something I have to think about. I don't have to tell myself, leave it alone, T. You don't need this. Remember you're trying to cut calories. It's like my brain automatically knows appropriate portion sizes or if I even want it 😅
It's a new feeling, but a good feeling. It's the first time I actually feel normal around food 🥹

Yeah, that's definitely on the Acidic side.
