Hi all,
Been a minute since I last posted. I started Sema a couple of days ago. My idea for this thread is to share my experiences as I go down this road. Maybe it will help someone? Maybe I need to know more? If anything that I write raises questions -- absolutely ask! I am quite open for respectful discussion. I do suggest that if you have a question like that, ask it in a separate thread -- chances are some other folks might be wondering the same. A new thread will give the questions more visibility. (Mods, if any of this is not cool, just say the word!)
I started compounded Sema through a med spa, two days ago. When the meds arrived, I was just about to leave for a month, a long business trip plus vacation. I was concerned about being on the road, or on a plane, or in front of a critical customer and experiencing "gastric distress" from the new med. I'm over 50, my body isn't quite as tolerant of changes as it used to be.
0.20 mg for the first two weeks, then 0.30 for the following two weeks. I've heard this is common with med spa docs. I like the idea of a slow ramp. I bought some extra syringes and practiced drawing and injecting water in to oranges. I am not afraid of needles, I used to volunteer as a medic. But I have had vasovagal reactions from needlesticks before (not fun), so I prepare myself. I gave myself the injection on the couch.
The needle stick didn't hurt (thigh). It did feel a bit odd. Shortly after the injection, my leg felt a little sore, kind of like a mild muscle ache, except all the way though the limb. Sema is not know for causing muscle cramping, I'm guessing this is XL version of the site reaction. Perhaps related to my propensity for vasovagal syncope. No nausea or other GI side effects
Something that I have struggled with a lot is "food noise". Many times it keeps me from sleeping. I know it's not good to eat late at night but given the choice between eating and not sleeping at all that night, I often choose the post-midnight snack. And sometimes I still hear that damn food noise after I eat. But not long after injection, the "food noise" already seemed quieter. When I woke up the next day, it was gone. And the day after, it was gone. Day 3 now, still gone.
I am SHOCKED at how much better I feel with the food noise gone away!!
To me, the shot is not a magic bullet (magic needle?). I have to put in the work to eat better. I have to put in the work to exercise more. I have to put in the work to change my workaholic professional nature so I can focus more on improving my health. If I don't do that, I'm not going to get as much ROI on these expensive meds.
My plan is to stick with the med spa for a few months, for the medical support, and then go grey. I am very comfortable working with folks in China. I have been computer parts and other various doodads from overseas for a few years, and have valued the relationships that I have built. I have made a trial purchase of Tirz and Reta. I speak crypto fluently, but I chose AliPay for this purchase. That purchase went smoothly, they are now vacuum packed and sitting in the deep freeze for a time further down the road. I expect that I will be buying Sema from the same vendor.
I'll need to find water. Bottled water is so expensive nowadays. 😄
