I hope people take the time to reflect on how this was a smart guy by all accounts. And unlike Ted Kaczynski, he didn't take out any innocent bystanders. Very targeted. I have a lot of trouble coming up with any empathy for any health insurance ceo.

From what I understand he's a nepo baby with an amazing lawyer. And if he is tried in NY they're going to have a hell of a time finding a jury in NYC. We tend to be the kind of people that won't want to throw the book at him.

I’m pretty sure the term “nepo baby” is for when a child gets a difficult-to-obtain job because of who their parents are, especially when they’re otherwise untalented. To my knowledge that isn’t Luigi’s situation. He’s just a boilerplate rich kid who was in fact very intelligent (valedictorian speaks to that), not a nepo baby.
Maybe it doesn't play as perfectly to the working class hero narrative but I don't see Luigi's familial wealth to be a negative regardless of how pampered a life he lived. Many of histories heroes had significant funding or came from wealth.
Fighting anything is not cheap and benefits from having a stable base, education and network. While there is precedent for the down trodden masses to mount an effective fight it is ironically the rich who are the best positioned to engage in any sort of warfare whether it be economic or physical.
Easy to see why they may not want to rock the boat they benefit the most from, which I think puts Luigi into a particularly positive light.

I agree. Those who are privileged enough to be able to afford the best of the best legal representation are best able to send a message without risking.... Ah, an unfortunate end where the prison cameras mysteriously don't work or life in prison.
When someone 'upper class' agrees with those less fortunate, it says a lot about the situation being terrible. 🤷♀️

You seem upset, but no one said it wasn't murder or that he did the right thing, other than @Sunflower saying they made a joke on Reddit and the rest of us discussing what happened in what I would consider a rather matter-of-fact manner.
We just lack empathy for a man who was the CEO of a company that has caused the death of hundreds of thousands of people by delaying and denying care. It's not like his death will truly help the situation, they'll just replace him with someone equally heartless but good for shareholders.

I don't know enough about the costs of the procedures he needs, but healthcare costs could easily be significantly more than his legal representation.
His parents also may be more willing to pay his legal fees than cash price for procedures that could/should be covered by insurance.
We just don't know, and probably won't until the trial, or maybe ever.

There's also the chance they choose not to televise it so they don't incentivize copycats. Like how a lot of news outlets post about victims of school shootings and not the shooter- so becoming infamous doesn't become a motivating factor. Especially since the Internet has chosen to love this guy already.

Yes, it’s murder, but remember: just bc we are told they did “bad things” doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s a narrative created by anyone’s government to perpetuate support for their agenda to amass power and wealth. Also, thousands of non-militants are getting murdered by the US and Israeli militaries.
Unfortunately, it has become impossible for anyone to join the military and not contribute to violent oppression. Same with health insurance careers.

I can comfortably afford retail prices for peptides. It doesn't mean I'll pay them and not think twice. I think many of us on the forum who have had some time to accumulate wealth can afford them.
