I am/was at 5mg/weekly. The last two 5mg doses resulted in really bad diarrhea (somewhat dissabilitating) for a about two days midweek plus about a day of recovery. I opted to step back a ways in my total dosage to 1.5mg twice weekly and gradually builld up my total amount of tirz. I just read an on-line article from the medical community that suggested that this might be beneficial to alleviate side effects, but needs to be closely monitored by a medical practitioner. What am I missing? Splitting a weekly dose into two half-doses doesn't seem like a big deal to me. My peak will be lower, but my trough will be higher. Please help me understand what I am missing if anything? Is this just the medical community trying to keep me in their firm control or are there some dangers to splitting my weekly dose of tirzepatide that I am not aware of?

It is absolutely no big deal, I did it for the better part of a year. Just take 2.5 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg in the evening 3.5 days later. (Ex. Tuesday morning and Friday evening)

Realistically though, the half-life of tirzepatide is long enough that if you wanted to take it in the morning both days, it won't make a difference.

I had to split my 7.5 Tirz into 2 doses also. About day 4 after a full dose, I would get sulphur burps, diarrhea, incredibly painful stomach cramps that would keep me home from work and the only time my stomach didn’t hurt was when I was sleeping….. thank goodness for the exhaustion symptom!! After the worst 24 hours of my life, it was over like nothing happened. You think I would have learned my lesson after the first time, but nope, I had to do it 2 more times before I started splitting my dose lol
The last time it happened, Pepto was the only thing that kept it manageable enough where I was able to work almost a full day

It evens out the pulses. I don’t think there’s definitive research in wether or not the weekly pulses are beneficial or if steadier levels are better… you might consider altering the biweekly dose to more closely match the average levels of the weekly dose vs the peak. You can play with a dosing tool here(thanks @desinr-gal for posting this!):

I did Tirz every 5 days, because I just got too hungry on day 6 and 7, so messed up my weight loss.
But now I'm on reta, I do twice a week, to not get the peaks, to avoid side effects, it's works great. Have no side effects.
But really I hasn't been done in trials, so no one really knows, but a lot of people do split doses.
