Starting Dose Strategy on Reta – Slow Titration vs. Jumping to 2 mg Weekly

Wanting to lose 75lbs, and starting at .5mg? You need to start at 2mg. But I guess I don't know anything according to someone here.
No I understand where your coming from and I will get to that point. Still trying to learn a lot about Reta

Some folks are adventurous with side effects such as diarrhea and constipation.
I support you working with your body rather than attempting to pound it into submission ;-)

I did my second pin of Reta last Wednesday @ .6mg. I'll be going to 1.2mg next Wednesday. I'm stacking it with the 4mg/week of Tirz I'm on already. I'd like to titrate Reta up and Tirz down over the next couple months. I'll reduce Tirz down to 2.5-3.0mg/week because that's a handy dose for the 15mg vials I have on hand. I'll raise the Reta to whatever it takes to initiate slow weight loss. I've been maintaining at 215lbs for twelve months after losing 55lbs with Tirz. I want to step down to a final weight of 200-205 lbs. @6'4". I'll decide whether Tirz or Reta is my compound of choice for permanent maintenance after I get there, but eventually I'd like one shot a week of a single compound. I have plenty of both on hand and I might even alternate every 6 months once at goal. Still to be determined.

I likely say that, because my wife and I never side effects like that. She did go a couple days without hitting the shitter. We had just started a diet, so who knows if that had anything to do with it. Got mild heartburn at bedtime on pin day. Now, I've had the sleep issues, but the gang who starts at .5mg say they get that too. Mine didn't start till like the 3rd 6mg shot. No issues for my wife.

Following Lily's trial dosage schedule, currently on week 7 and on my third pin of 4mg.
I've been blessed as far as side effects go, i did experience some mild nausea, anhedonia and bad sleep the first 4 weeks on 2mg, but those side effects are basically gone, maybe some very mild anhedonia is still present but i'm unsure.

If i tolerate 6mg as well as I'm tolerating 4mg i plan to jump to 9mg and reassess.

A helpful thread for me. I have 1 day to go before I should have another 5 mg of Tirz. But I don’t have any, only Reta! Poor planning on my part. But it seems that starting slowly with either 0.5 mg Reta or 1.0 mg is the best plan.

What i did and what worked for me (personal experience!):

Week 1: 0.5 mg
Week 2: 1 mg
Week 3: 1.5 mg
Week 4: 2 mg

I've lost 6+ kg (94.9-> 88.6 this morning) , have absolutely no side effects AT ALL.

My hunger only went down a little from 1 mg, the weight loss also started only at halfway week 2. It is now stable, i lose maybe 300-400 grams every 2 days which is fine by me.
I plan to stay on 2mg now as i feel it does the job. I can't eat like i used to but that's the point i was eating almost 3.5k kcal.

My sleep started sucking ass late into the 6mg shots. 4/weeks of 8mg and now 2 weeks of 9mg hasn't changed that. I'm now used to getting up at 4am, but did sleep pretty good last night, still up at 4am. I sent portal message to my cardiologist about 2 things I'm interested in trying due to heart meds I'm on. Not real strong stuff though.

That's makes sense, 4mg is still considered "low" so i do expect some of the side effects to appear again in varying degrees, funny enough though, I'm sleeping better than i have slept in over a decade, in the last month or so i don't remember waking up tired.

I do have to say, that i rarely sleep past the 6 hour mark since starting reta, i can go back to sleep if i really want to, but my body just wakes up in around 6 hours of sleep.

I want to start a discussion about starting dose on Reta and hear some real experiences from others.
I started very cautiously:
  • 0.5 mg for 2 weeks
  • then 1 mg for another 2 weeks
  • during the second week at 1 mg, I split the week in half and pinned another 1 mg
So now I’m doing:
  • 1 mg every Tuesday morning 6 am
  • 1 mg every Friday evening 6 pm
Honestly, only now do I feel like I’ve reached the right dose for me. Before that, I could barely even say I felt anything, except maybe some mild effect about an hour after injection.

The reason I approached it this way is because I read a lot of reports from rats that jumped straight to 2 mg and regretted it because of sides. But now I’m really wondering if starting lower than 2 mg actually makes sense in practice for adaptation, or if many people simply delay getting meaningful effects.

My weight literally did not move until I reached a total of 2 mg/week. I should also mention that I’m already fit and not massively overweight, so maybe that changes things compared to people with a lot more body fat to lose.

What were your experiences with starting doses?
Do you think the slow titration below 2 mg really helps the body adapt, or is it often unnecessary for people who tolerate it well?

Interested to hear different perspectives. Thank you for considering.
I want to know why it would be so much different then Tirz ? If everything I read is true the GLP and GIP threshold is lower than Tirz. The Glucagon release is there, but shouldn't give GI issues like Glp and GIP . The Glucagon is designed in this case to burn fat. Anyone else have insight?

I started the Lilly trial way, then modified. 2mg/4/weeks-4mg/5 week-6mg/6 weeks-7mg/3weeks and just starting 8mg. I've lost an average of 2.2lbs/week for 18 weeks. 40lbs or 18kg for a few of you guys.

This one is updated based on last week. I actually looked at my spreadsheet instead of going from memory. Copied and pasted from another thread.
"I'm not going to mess with the 4/weeks 2mg stats, I lost a bunch, but likely water weight. I lost 11lbs in 6 weeks on 4mg. I lost 10lbs in 6 weeks on 6mg, but later in the 6mg is when my sleep issues started. Lost 13lbs in 6 weeks on 8mg. Currently on the second week on 9mg and close to 2lbs down. Down 52lbs since 1/9/26."

Late to this but I've been on for 6 months. Started at 2mg for one month and that was fine; increased by 2.5mg every 4 weeks.

Now at 7.5mg every 5 days and that's working again after a month long plateau at the same dose every 7 days.

I'm down 35 pounds and have gone from a 38 waist to a 34. I'm crushing it in the gym as well - lifts have steadily increased the whole time I've been on Reta. I am now at 254 pounds which is the lightest I've been in 5 years, but even then I was in a 36 waist. The body recomp is way better with Reta than without (YMMV).

I have 24 pounds to go to hit my goal and it feels attainable.
