Hello, I am new here not sure if I’m posting in the right place but I would like to see if anyone has had a similar experience and guidance. I’ve been taking retatrutide for 5 weeks first 4 weeks were great on Jan 6th I was eating and swallowed a piece of meat that was too large, it got stuck in my chest for several hours before finally passing. Since that happened some days have been better than others as well as toleration but I still have the same sensation that stuff is getting caught in my throat, I am also experiencing tightness and dry lump sensation. It is too intense to eat any type of meat. I have GERD and take a ppi daily, recently doubled to 2 15mg lansaprozole and a famotidine at night. I did some research and seen a few have suggested Flonase as well. I don’t know if it’s heightened anxiety, the medication or choking that caused more inflammation or a combination of everything. I am taking 1mg a week and have been, but haven’t given myself my dose today because I am afraid. Thank you

I would have to suggest that this is a situation where a medical opinion would be a good idea. I notice you are in the US so costs might be an issue, but it would be safer to at least get it checked out.

If I had to guess what was going on and this is a guess, then it may be that you have abraded the lining of your oesophagus where the food got stuck and it is a bit inflamed and irritated and maybe some oesophageal muscle spasm to go with it, which is what is causing the issues with swallowing . The reason for my suggestion to get a medical opinion is the slight possibility of a tear, which could cause all sorts of problems - infection, bleeding etc.

Otherwise liquid/soft food for a while so it can heal up. But, even a low probability of a serious consequence justifies getting it checked out medically. Almost certainly they are just going to want to wait and see, but it is still safer to have this from a doctor who wont miss any possible red flags or less likely they will want to do a scope and see for certain what is happening. No harm in not having your dose of reta for a few days or weeks, anything that might increase nausea would be better avoided until it settles. Sounds like you are already on maximum doses of anti acid stomach drugs, cannot see how adding more would help.

Please note, this is not medical advice, just advice to get an expert opinion from a doctor, and why that might be a good idea.

10/10 response!! I’ve had issues related to multiple of these symptoms (separate from peptides) and agree with all of this. Be kind to your body

I would see a GI doc. They may want to scope your esophagus and biopsy the lining for eosinophilic esophagitis. Several hours is a long time to have food stuck in your esophagus.

Sometimes when a piece is too big, it may stick for less time than you think, but the pressure is so intense on your esophagus, it feels like it’s still there until the inflammation goes down. I’ve had this happen several times. But Yes!! GI doc can cover a lot of stuff in one spot
