Too many duplicate threads lately?

Hello and good, morning, afternoon or evening.
I’m not trying to single anyone out here, and this isn’t aimed at any one person specifically, but has anyone else noticed a big increase lately in duplicate or very similar threads?

I completely understand people creating new threads — that’s obviously part of what keeps a forum active — but I’ve noticed more cases recently where members create multiple threads on the same topic rather than continuing their original one. There also seems to be an increase in questions being asked that could potentially be answered quite quickly by using the search function or reading through a few existing threads first.

It made me wonder whether it would help to have a small reminder appear after clicking “New Thread”, something simple like:

“Have you tried using the search function first?” I really like the "Is this already being discussed?" part that can show other threads but people are either ignoring it or do not bother to read.

To be fair, I haven’t even done that properly before posting this, so I’ll take my own advice there.

I read the site daily and I’m not sure whether there’s genuinely more repetition lately, or whether my patience/tolerance has just decreased over the last few weeks. If others think it’s more the latter, then fair enough — I’ll reassess my own attitude towards it.

Again, this isn’t intended as a rant or criticism of specific members. More just an observation about the current state of the forum and whether others have noticed the same thing.

To be fair,
Insert Letterkenny reference here!

It's a fine line between derailing someone elses' thread for a similar issue to what you're discussing, vs starting a new thread on the same or nearly same topic.

I'm ok with either way. Sometimes a fresh start on a topic brings others in, more advice, new ideas, collaborative thought. Can be a real positive.

You Brits and that darned BAC water, though... (Just kidding! The struggle is real, I know!)

Yes!

Indeed, there have been lots more "Dear Diary", "Hey Mom look at me!" threads getting started lately. Just like ol' Facebook!

Perhaps there needs to be a new sub forum section under the General Discussion forum -- "My Personal Journey Blog", or something.
Then some of us can easier scroll by or focus on the other sections.

Why let the small stuff effect you? Life's to short to worry about such trivial things. Y'all can just scroll by. This silly complaint happens in every forum and group.

To me it looking like everyone is playing the social media game, wanting to get as many posts and likes so they can get the next rank advancement. There’s a lot of good information found here, just need to take the time to research it. Also thinking some of the very knowledgeable people have moved on. I will probably get shamed and even banned for this comment.
