I’ve been taking retatrutide since January. I increased my dose very slowly, and even stepped back down from 3mg to 2.5mg because the 3mg side effects were too much. I’ve read posts from other people about taking more than they intended, and I was always so sure that would never be me. Pride goeth before the fall, friends. I needed to take my 2.5mg dose today, but I forgot that I needed to reconstitute a new vial. Despite having a head cold, I pushed ahead, reconstituted my vial, and injected my normal 2.5mg dose. All good. Then I looked at my retatrutide kit and saw the 10 and thought, “Oh, crap, I reconstituted a 10mg vial instead of the 30mg vial I meant to. No problem. I’ll just calculate my new dose and inject more. Chat - I saw the quantity and confused it with the dose.

So, today I took 7.5mg of retatrutide instead of my intended 2.5. Fortunately, I’m stocked up on ginger chews, electrolytes, and Zofran. Just dreading the next 7-10 days. When I increased from 2.5-3, I had cycled off of KLOW. I’m hoping that the peptide blend blunts some of the dose-related GI inflammation since I’ve been back on it for about a week now.

Fingers crossed. I’ll update this post as the week progresses. Wish me luck!

Good luck!

Did it myself last week, confused units with dose. Fortunately my error gave me too small a dose.

Now all my pens have a P-touch label with product, dose, and units on it

Thank you! Believe it or not, I was grabbing my phone to make a new label when I noticed the “dosing” discrepancy. Labels are so important. For me, slowing down and not trying to do multiple things while I’m not feeling 100% is another important lesson.

I appreciate the commiseration. <3

You probably won't crap for a while, but you'll be fine. Good on you for having electrolytes handy.

Initially, I labeled vials by mg/ml, like 12:240 or 10:100. But I discovered that my lazy brain will just report, "tl;dr" and give me a guess. So from now on, I'll label them 1:10 or 1:20 or similar. I don't really care how many doses are inside, I run out when I run out.

That should read mg/U above. Otherwise, I'd be really far off. H/T @drgnflydggr

My typical labels are:
Med Name
Med Concentration (10 mg/ml)
Unit Conversion (10U = 1mg)
Date Reconstituted

Unfortunately a label wouldn’t have saved me this time - this was due almost entirely to carelessness/thoughtlessness and rushing while I had a cold. Over-confidence, maybe.

Day Two: No appetite, some nausea but it’s well-controlled by Zofran.

I took the day off, so I’ve just been resting and watching “Designing Women” on Hulu. Miraculously, my cold symptoms are better today, too. My peak serum concentration will be in a few hours, but based on the ride up, I’m not expecting too much to be different. I’m already well above any previous peaks. Food-wise, I’ve been able to manage a few bites of Greek yogurt every couple of hours.

The trek continues. Thanks to everyone who commented for your suggestions and commiseration. Currently peaking according to the app I use. 😬

Looks like a rocket shot from here. It's been a couple of days since you checked in, hoping all's well.

Literally just got my nimbot, this was the most intuitive way to label.

I also include dose frequency on the label.

Are you have any HR effects from the greater dose?
I’ve actually been paying closer attention to my resting heart rate and heart rate variability since I started taking reta in January. Before that, I had been eating terribly and drinking too much, and my HRV/RHR values showed that - all over the place. I cleaned up my diet, and I lost almost all desire to drink alcohol, so those two values snapped to a pretty tight baseline by early Feb.

Something interesting I’ve noticed with reta is that, when I take my weekly dose, my HRV declines and my RHR goes up and then they return to baseline before my next injection. My worst deviation from baseline was the time I increased from 2.5mg to 3mg while I was cycled off of KLOW. I was a wreck for two weeks, even though I stepped my dose back down to 2.5mg the following week. This time, with the 3x dose, I experienced my normal dip and recover - it’s only Saturday, three days in, and my HRV is already back above baseline. I’ll be interested to see if that stays consistent or if today’s an anomaly.

I did sleep terribly Thursday and Friday nights, and my watch alerted me to a higher than normal heart rate overnight. (50s instead of my normal 40s)

I’m on day 4. Still feeling pretty fatigued, still have some heartburn, but I’m sleeping better. Interestingly, the side effect I was most dreading, allodynia or “skin pain”, never materialized thank goodness.

Going forward, I plan to take next week off and start again on my 2.5mg dose on the following Wednesday. In case anyone finds this later on and are in a similar situation, the things that were most helpful to me were:

1. Electrolytes in water bottles, frequent small sips
2. Rest. Rest. Rest.
3. Don’t beat yourself up. Mistakes happen. Learn from it and move on.
4. Lay on your right side to encourage gastric emptying, left side to alleviate heartburn
5. This is an n=1 scenario, but I think the KLOW peptide blend was very helpful in reducing GI and inflammation, to the point that I won’t increase my dose if I’m not taking it.
