Transitioning from Tirz to Reta

Hey everyone,

So I have a question. I have begun reading up on Ret. I am currently on Tirz. Just started 3 weeks ago. I was interested in transitioning to Ret. So far, I see people transition at higher doses. I wanted to give Tirz a chance for a while, but if I were to transition now. How would I do it? I currently take 1.5 mg of Tirz weekly.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi,
Your tirzepatide dose is below the manufacturer’s initial recommended dose of 2.5mg per week. You should not have any trouble just changing out your weekly tirzepatide shot to retatrutide. The TRIUMPH study for retatrutide also started all participants with 4 weeks of 2.5mg per week then increasing weekly dosage in steps of 2.5mg every 4 weeks. I would follow that protocol. You could leave an extra washout week (total of 2) in between last tirzepatide and first retatrutide dose if you found yourself already sensitive to side effects with 1.5mg before, but odds are with such a low dose, you probably didn’t get much in the way of negative side effects.
