Hi Guys!!

I was wondering if anyone has traveled, specifically to Hawaii with their peptides? I’m leaving in 2 weeks and want to take my Reta and KLOW and I can time it right to take un-constituted there in those cooling cases, but coming back ill need it to stay cold for at least 8 hours. Has anyone successfully traveled with them and what case did you use? Would love any comments or suggestions🙂

How long are you going to be gone?

There's no need to cool lyophilized peptides.

I will be gone for 2 weeks! I know I don’t need it for lyophilized peptides, but if I take it there and reconstitute there then I’ll need to refrigerate to bring back.

For 2 week trips I take a dose when I leave, then take a travel vial with me with the doses I need plus a contingency allowance. A dose of Reta costs me around $2, I’d rather have an extra dose that gets thrown away vs run short because I tried to be exact or my trip got extended.

KS-TEK is a good brand that's available Amazon and elsewhere. I have their 3, 5 and 10ml ones. Good rating outside of Amazon too. I'll try that place @woundcarping has linked next time.

Hasn't there been a fair amount of talk on KS-TEK failing tests and having even visible particulates/contaminants in the vials?

ohhhhh thats a great idea!!! I can just find empty vials online?

I"m going to assume by this comment that you are currently not filtering anything and are just reconstituting into the lyophilized vials?

With that presumably being the case, I would assume your risk tolerance is much higher than needing to purchase certified depyrogenated sterile vials, but if you choose to go down that rabbit hole, the the 2 best companies I've found for trustworthy, certified, non-pyrogenic vials are ALK and FireGene.

What about customs etc ? No issues travelling with Peps like reta with no prescription?
I feel like I would worry for carry ons, and maybe international travel. Unless you preload into pens. The vial, no matter how nice you make a label, lyophilized seems like an invitation to be questioned, and reconstituted... 50/50. If I kept it in a cooler case, hard, plenty padded in my checked luggage, better.

I’ve been worried about this too but from everything I have read it seems that if you just tell them its medication they don’t say anything? so I’m not quite sure yet

To be fair, now that you mention this... I've traveled domestic and international with a good deal of various pills in a large schedule 2 week pill holder. No questions asked when looked at directly. So maybe vials unlabeled or self labeled won't matter, depending on the current and destination country.

Like, dont bring Adderall to certain countries. Those same countries may not like the vial thing.

I do just reconstitute directly into the lyophilized vials, I’m not sure what filtering means in this instance! (still pretty new to this all)
I still have 2 weeks before I leave so I have some time to make a decision

There's no customs flying domestically in the US. There will be an ag inspection leaving HI.

Domestically, my experience is TSA doesn't care about personal quantities in your carry on. They are more curious about the ice packs (frozen or not). I fly with peptides and oil. No big deal.

Internationally, it depends on the country.

I actually had no idea you couldn’t take Adderall to certain countries but I guess it makes sense! I have prescribed Vyvanse so I should probably check whenever I fly international!

But as far as Hawaii, I feel like they wouldn’t care about my ‘mediation’? They seem very concerned with wildlife and agriculture but I’m not sure if they’re strict on other stuff.

Let me help you with filtering information I was given when I first started! Everyone was so great.

If you have an Rx, print a copy and keep with your medication and keep the PDF saved to your phone. The probability of needing is is low, but why not look prepared?

In general, flying domestically with your personal medication, is no big deal. TSA is safety, not law enforcement.

I’ve been to Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, the uk Belgium Italy and Greece with peps and not one time has it been questioned in my checked bags. Put everything in a travel insulin container and no one will wonder, they don’t want any part of the needles.

Thanks for the follow up link Neuro. I watched this video very early on as well.

@kittymeow , just a little more context on filtering (I'll try to make it brief)- Often the product/vials that are received from vendors are not sterile. Testing for purity does not equate to sterility, so, it can have high purity and easily fail sterility tests (which is quite common when tested).
As such, and for anyone that's looked into it, it is commonly accepted/expected to presume the product in general is not sterile, period. So, we filter. Filtering, even at home, with good practices, will indeed make the product sterile. This can and often reduces ISRs (Injection Site Reactions) as well as mitigating potential illness from injecting non-sterile substance.

There are many many many posts on filtering, search if you want more context. Highly recommended.

As to the original topic- I've traveled with a small ice-pack case designed for insulin, with a couple vials, a handful of syringes and alcohol wipes, and have never been bothered going through TSA.

I just used one of these guys last time:

Rather than that contraption, I just use a Yeti that I have on hand and ice in a baggy. I use the one with the screw stop. Works like a charm. TSA has never batted an eye.

I traveled internationally this week with the same set up and no problems. And was thinking, if any immigration checkpoint could check mass/purity and peptide identification on the spot, then I need them to call Jano, cuz it takes Jano days 😂😂😂

How about 2-3 days travel? In a couple weeks I'll have a business trip and will have to stay in the hotel for 2-3 days. It is not overseas, and I stay in the country, but wondering, how to safely transport peps, when have to make few injections during those days. Is taking a "ready made" syringes in some cooling container a good idea, or not?

Insulin syringes are not sterile storage containers, so that's really not a good idea. Can you just adjust your pin day by 1 or 2 days.

Like just sday your normal pin day is Monday and your travel in Monday-Wednesday, just pin on Sunday.

If your normal pin day is Tuesday (using same scenario) just pin on Sunday too. If the normal pin day is Wednesday, pin on Thursday.

If you must travel with it, just put one dose in a sterile vial and travel with that unrefrigerated. It will be fine.
