My husband started reading about reta today and decided that he doesn't like me using peptides. He saw an article about how eli lilly is being sued for the serious side effects and is terrified that something bad is going to happen to me. He's a good husband and is just worried about me. Now, I have never used more than the lowest dose and I don't have any serious side effects. I also haven't tried any other peptides. I make sure I hit appropriate calorie goals, hydrate, take vitamins, creatine, and omega 3's, and exercise daily. Wondering if anyone could help me show him literature/data that can ease his worries?

Are you clinically obese? If so, have him compare the side effects of obesity vs glp-1s? Reta isn't FDA approved, it's still experimental, so you can't use the "this drug has been proven safe and effective by the government" argument though......

I am the worst person in the world to offer relationship advice ("You know why divorce is so expensive? Because it's worth it."), but I can definitely understand where he's coming from.

Since reta is experimental and there are still a lot of unknowns, you might want to consider moving to sema or tirz to ease his concerns and keep the peace since both have been approved by our government overlords and more importantly have and are being used safely by millions of people around the world. Reta may reach that point some day too, but until then I totally get why people may have concerns about it (I was one of them until about 6 months ago).

I had tremendous success stacking Tirz and Reta. BMI went from 39 to 21. I lost 45% of my body weight. My spouse thinks I did it all on grey Tirz. They still aren't comfortable with grey market, even though I truthfully tell them I personally 3rd party test everything. I haven't told them about Reta for just this reason. I plan to tell them either after the Phase III data comes in, or maybe later when it is approved. It was sort of they didn't ask, so I didn't tell.

I don't regret using Reta stacked with Tirz. I lost 110lbs in 11 months. No significant side effects. Blood pressure went from 142/96 to 110/65. Heart rate went from 93 to 70. I went for a check up and the doctor said everything looks great, see you in a year. Still, I don't think my spouse would be happy if they knew.

There's only really the clinical trials to point towards. The phase 2 trials showed enough safety and efficacy to move on the phase 3, and the phase 3 trials are ongoing with the preliminary results that have been discussed showing similar promise. Some of the trials have had adder phases extending them for a subset of participants, almost certainly because they want to show continued weight loss and better results.

All of the phase 3 trials have independent boards that monitor the data and can pull the plug if there is evidence of significant risk beyond the benefits of the drug.

But plenty of side effects and risks have been found in the use of medication after phase 3 trials and FDA approval finish. There's no guarantee, and I think it is perfectly reasonable that someone's risk tolerance would not be at the point that they feel comfortable with a drug that is unapproved.

If I was married or had children I would have been significantly less comfortable using reta myself.

Maybe he's uncomfortable with her dropping 5 dress sizes... reminds me of the relationship adversely affected by new found confidence and risqué behavior thread posted lately.
