I've used to use My Fitness Pal in the past but now you need a subscription to use their barcode scanner, what a shame. What are you all using to track your macros? I think if I can dial this in rather that just tracking total calories will help me exponentially with my fat loss. I am and android user if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

I use an app called MacrosFirst. It's like $40 bucks a year and the UI is a little clunky but once you figure it out it works pretty good. I like that I can create recipes and establish my own portion sizes. It also has a net carb or total carb option.

I use mynetdiary it’s a green apple on the App Store and a 1 time purchase which is nice because I hate subscriptions

What are Macro's?
Macros is short for macronutrients. From what I've heard from TONS of people trying to lose weight or recomp their body with or without peptides... is that tracking food intake beyond just simple calories is essential. Lowering your caloric intake below your output is a great start. Google TDEE and begin research from there. I don't know the scientific words but for people who are using peptides tracking macros it's very important. Why? Because when you force the body into rapid weight loss there are two main sources of fuel, fat or muscle. To keep muscle you must exercise and consume protein. The guideline I've heard most used is to consume 1g of protein per kg of bodyweight.

Edit: Wait a freakin' minute. I just realized who posted this. You son of a.... You got my tism to show dang you!!

I use Cronometer and love it, but it's not cheap @ $60/year.

The parts I like best are that it can remember foods and prompt you to enter them and also the scan bar code feature. I've yet to scan something that hasn't come up.

never you mind - I liked your help.

yes. I have a chat in the app I've called "macro tracking". In addition to adding recipes that it will remember for later, I can take a pic of a bar code to enter food etc. Way easier than any dedicated tracking app I've used.
I also use Gemini. I super geek out and put my weekly body scan data (BIA) into it as well as monthly bloods (I will prob go to 8 week bloods soon), then weekly I have it compile the data into an HTML file I had it create when I first started to show me a complete dashboard of weekly and monthly trends across macros, weight & muscle, blood work, etc. I can then click any day on my dashboard and see a snapshot of exactly what I ate, timestamped (I log as I eat, usually), what suppliments/peps/others I ingested that day as well as a visual representation of how I felt on that day (shown with emojis Gemini chose based on my description of how I felt).

People ask me if I'm worried about privacy lmfao what privacy?! Google has seen some very questionable photos of me (thanks, locked folder) and everyone from here to China has my data anyways. If it ever leaked it has no identity tied to it, just some random guys protocols and weird depictions of I how I felt 😂

Keeps me engaged, entertained, and enlightened.

I am a diehard for MacroFactor. I have been very happy with it for a little over 2 1/2 years.
Ahh, so you watch Nippard too huh? 🙂

I use macrofactor, paid for the year subscription. So far I love it and its great for tracking but the AI photo option doesnt work very well IMO

I used to track macros on myfitnesspal years ago, but now? I guesstimate. Years of experience, I'm pretty good at tracking in my head.....

Tracking deez...........

I used MyFitnessPal forever but last year it got real buggy and kept losing my data. Tried Macrofactor and hated it. The logging was a total PIA compared to MyFitnessPal. I tried about everything out there and settled on Lose It! Best app I have ever used. It is freeium but the paid part isn't really necessary and they put it on sale all the time. I think I paid $40 for lifetime. The logging is supper fast and there are multiple ways to find what you want to log. If you eat the same things a lot you can log by previous meals or by commonly logged foods. After trying just about every app out there, I think its the best by a wide margin.

chronometer has a free option that i use.. or well it use to... also has a barcode scanner. maybe they got rid of the free version idk. i eat the same things everyday so i no longer have to track them

I use Lose It. I think it’s $35/yr. Does everything I need it for. You have to manually track micros though.

I use Journable. I really like it. It's easy to use and its responses are pretty accurate but it has an option to edit and save entries to reuse.

It has a weight and water tracker. You can set your macros to whatever percentages you like and has options of lose, maintain, or gain weight.

It is $40 per year but gives you 20 free entries to see if you like it.

It has literally changed the way I eat.

Lose It is great. Very simple interface, minimal friction, and it just works.

That said, after awhile, it gets exhausting logging every single thing you eat (unless you eat the same thing daily). Personally, I find food trackers great for establishing a baseline understanding of how much xyz you’re actually consuming in a week. After that, logging starts to get tiring (and/or becomes obsessive).

If you’ve got insurance, consider using a dietitian. It’s covered these days (use a platform like Nourish), and they can be far more helpful on the food / nutrition / psychology aspects of your weight loss (or mass building) journey than most folks on this forum.

except for Zippy but i don’t think he accepts insurance

You can get the barcode scanning back on MFP for free if you switch your accounts geo to Canada.

I’ve been using RP on and off for a few years now and I love it. Subscription is about €80 a year and you can set diets for fat loss, maintenance and bulk (the latter I have never needed an app for!). I like it because it encourages whole food choices ahead of adding processed foods. It can take a while to get used to it but I’m really hooked into now, and any other app just feels off to me

I use chat GPT. I have a "health" Project and within that I have peptide tracking, nutrition tracking, fitness tracking, and medication tracking. It's worked extremely well for me so far. It's less cumbersome than myfitnesspal for me and so I'm more consistent with keeping up with it.

I have gone to a higher level. I use to count calories. I use to count macros. If you just focus in clean eating with protein you don’t need to count anything anymore. Get your protein in for the day and you’re done. I use the formula that 20 grams of protein should be 200 calories or less. So just drop the zero from the calories and the protein should be close if it’s quality protein. I eat 175 grams of protein a day and that usually equates to 2000 to 1700 calories a day. Way easy and it’s a quality of life change. Once mastered.

I use Samsung Health app. It is free and I can find most all the foods I eat in there. I use the barcode scanner a lot to help auto enter info into each food entry. I set up premade meals that I eat regularly. I just wish i could figure out how to sync my glucose monitor and blood pressure monitor with it. but, I can manually add those metrics. I use it to track workouts as well.

MyFitnessPal. While I would love the barcode scanner of the paid apps I just like it.

I changed my region in MFP to Turkey and paid $3 for a premium subscription. This was last Fall so ymmv.
