What do you tell your Doctor

Am I wrong in reading that nearly everyone who is extra reluctant to tell their doctor about grey GLP's is in the US? Where it sounds like there can be real practical consequences with health insurance etc, and concepts like medical confidentiality seem to have been lost to the commercial interests of insurers? Maybe it is a problem with private health insurance everywhere? Thankfully , although Australia has a mixed system, basic health care is mostly state funded, which while far from perfect usually is the most cost effective method.
If you told your GP about some grey peptides, Im not sure they will approve anyway. Wonder if in Australia that will make them reluctant to prescribe you meds for fear incase you may not be sharing the full list of stuff you are on.

I have been lucky enough to have the same GP for 25+ years. I do not think he cared much about the tirzepatide as he knew how much weight I was trying to keep off and that I could not afford the legit version, and he had been happy to prescribe ozempic and then tirzepatide. But yes a lot of GP's would see it as a possible risk of abuse if certain other medications like opioids or benzodiazepines were required. It definitely depends on the individual doctor's attitudes, and to what extent they keep up with the research on GLP's and how comfortable they are with prescribing them. Unfortunately a lot of doctors are still going to be a bit bigoted about fat people. But hopefully most see it as mildly risky, but with possible benefits.

My GP was the one who hooked me up with the compound stuff originally (before it became illegal) so idk hard to say how he would react. But I also only go to the doctor when necessary (injuries or illness), not for annual check ups (though I should). Ultimately I won’t be disclosing anything unless I need to have a procedure, have an emergency or suffer adverse effects.
Each to their own. I suppose it depends on your comorbidities.

In the event of an emergency I hope you are able to communicate your glp usage or someone is present to notify on your behalf.

My doctors? No. My pharmacist? Yes, but mostly because he gives me vitamin D shots at my house...

I've got a Dr appt for my DOT physical coming up. I'm debating between telling him I bought a book on self-hypnosis, or I took up intermittent fasting... Thoughts?

Assuming you go in for regular check ups and get blood work done. Do you tell him what you're taking? Do you keep it a secret?

I've also read you shouldn't hid anything from your doctor but when I told him I like to have a smoke every once in a while I got charged a smoking cessation consultation. And put on my chart which could affect any life insurance policy. Keep in mind I smoke at deer camp and when every once in a while when I would go out and drink.

So do you tell them or not.
Yep. Just say “I’m doing x now. We talked about it and you were against it, but I wanted to do it and it’s helped me, so…”
