I joined last Dec and it was a pretty open forum and we could ask what we wanted. Now all post apparently have to be vetted first???? And I was asking for an alternative for QSC and the post was locked??? Seriously, what happened. We were allowed to ask the before.
Post moderation has been in effect for new members since the Cantides Affair in July 2024, so there has technically been no change to that since you first joined (in fact the thresholds for posts, likes, and days since registering have actually been reduced compared to when you first joined).
Same thing with new members promoting or begging for sources, links, groups, etc., although it is slightly more strictly enforced now after disruptions caused by various waves of shills, scammers, and lazy/entitled people.
Sourcing is discussed here on an almost minute-by-minute basis, and while that is perfectly fine for established members who have "made their bones", source-related content/questions from anyone who hasn't graduated to unmoderated posts is going to be more closely scrutinized and often ignored, deleted, or edited.
History has demonstrated that folks who can't be bothered to read and follow the very basic rules and guidelines here, or can't spend a few minutes reading any of the existing 81000 posts, or don't notice that three of the top five "Trending Topics" are related to sourcing are probably not going to ever be quality contributors or add much to the conversation. They just want to pop in, stick their hand out, say "gimme!" and expect to be handed all the knowledge they'll ever need without having to put in any effort or with any intention of contributing to the conversation.
The analogy I often use is that these same people probably don't walk into their local steakhouse with a big fancy sign outside that says "Steakhouse" on it and the delicious aroma of freshly-charred bovine flesh wafting through the air and start asking everyone "Is this a restaurant?", "Do you serve steak here?", "Who sells the best steak?", "How do I order a steak?", etc. A little common sense and resourcefulness goes a long way.
So yeah, coming in and asking for the best alternative to QSC when that very subject has been discussed
daily for the past 11 months doesn't exactly make a great impression.
