What's the difference between Vendor Connection and Marketplace Vendors?

From what I sorta understand, Vendor Connection are vendors who have paid to advertise here and Marketplace Vendors have not paid to advertise here?

The way I understand it:
Vendor's connection : Amazon, Walmart, Google
Marketplace Vendors: Farmer's Market, Mom and Stepfather store, etc.
