Over 40 female from NOLA who got tired of being told things like "wow your metabolism is really slow but your labs look fine" (dear reader, they did not) by traditional medicine. Have had many clients (I'm in mental health) with positive experiences in multiple areas of their lives outside of weight loss with GLPs that I fell down the rabbit hole of its usages long before trying it myself (I am a bit of a nerd). I've been lurking on here since getting on tirzepatide through an NP friend. I got here through the whole "someone told you to go grey" post (RIP) and have found a wealth of knowledge and love not having to reinvent the wheel. I've lost 14lbs in 8 weeks on a very low dose but those compound pharmacy prices have me back in my pre-med ochem lab days. Safety first, but my body my choice. I spend a lot of my professional life teaching/supporting harm reduction but it always boils down to "if you are going to be stupid, be smart about it". Hope to find out more of the do's and don'ts, who to trust and expand on my newfound desire/love of peptide stacking on my journey to become a fit, strong pincushion.

It sounds like you will be a great addition, I love the variety of training and attitude!

Welcome, Madison🙂 I'm also a mental health therapist and was introduced to peptides by patients who were making positive changes in their lives. I lurked here for about 6 months before making an account, and have found the information found here to be very valuable. Glad you are here🙂

I think it is a very interesting conversation to be had regarding the positive effects, both psychological and physiological, that these peptides can contribute.

I "feel" better physically and that has impacted my confidence, but I also believe there is a deeper psychological or even mental change in my body that has impacted my attitude and sense of well being that is beyond just body image/comfort/health.

I would love to hear both of your thoughts on this subject.

I think that the psychological lift starts as soon as we make the decision to move forward and try to start making positive change. I tell my patients on their very first visit with me that I know that they are going to get better, and the reason I know that is because they took a step forward toward growth and change.

Definitely it is very hard to be well balanced emotionally and mentally when we are sickly and not feeling well. The GLP-1 medications have made a lot of changes for a lot of people, not just weight loss, but the other non-scale victories like having the energy to spend quality time with friends and loved ones, lowering needs for many different medications, better sleep quality, increased self-esteem, etc.

I think am most curious about potential psychotropic effects, in layman's terms, is there something else in the water?

Oh, hahaha! You'd probably know more about that than me, I'm just here for prettier skin and to rid of of a couple of lines around my eyes 🤣 The rest of y'all are the experts🙂
