And what did you get? I've looked a few options, not sure it's something I want to acquire yet, but my standard -20C mini freezer is gonna get overcrowded pretty soon.

It's been a while since I've heard anyone mention going that overboard on a freezer, especially after the tests showing even dramatic temperature swings didn't cause degradation.
Perhaps this pursuit is a side-effect of your deathly citrus allergy?

I tried one of those stirling ultra cold I got used off eBay and it was junk so I sent it back

I think they’re really designed for transport and keeping things cold for 24 hours or so at a time and not running 24/7/365

I looked at https://northaircool.com/collection...ow-temperature-freezer?variant=42272923517086 but couldn’t pull trigger on it. I ended up getting a hydrapeak thermos and put the vials in that in my regular freezer to guard against power outages.

I was trying to figure out how to ensure my tirz could keep for the next three decades while planning for contingencies like civilization falling apart and day-to-day life plunging into pseudo-anarchy and Mad-Max-style road gangs. And in such a scenario, I'm forced to hide underground and ride a stationary bicycle to power a decrepit generator with an exhaust pipe going up to a fake bush on the surface that the simple-minded plebs all decide to worship because "hey look! bush make smoke and not burn!", and all to keep my tirz cold. So in this scenario, efficient chilling would be important.
Ideally we'd like to keep our tirz colder than the microwave background radiation of the universe, but because we live on this volcanically active planet, fridge manufactures keep throwing out excuses to justify their weak temp specs. So it seems -86C is about the best we can hope for in the four figure price range until science advances to the point where someone can make a decent value cosmic heart of darkness, or until the collapse of civilization removes all remnants of hope. Of course if we do go the way of authoritarian structure instead of full entropy collapse, then by that time we may have sleeves--Altered Carbon style--in which case we won't need peptide injections anymore. So something to look forward to in either case.

No, -40 is a regulator freezer with a little oversized compressor and a particular refrigerant. It is still single stage. I Paid 300 for a 3 cubic foot chest model. Works just fine and is ment to run 24/7 for years. I got gallons of frozen vodka in there that will keep it under -20 from a couple days without power. How much longer can you keep peps at -40 than -20? Idk but for compare that price with what I've invested and the freezer seems cheap.

A do have a Stirling ULT-25NEU and ran out of space in it. Tried getting a second Stirling - an older ULT-25 grey model, it didn't work.

Joke aside, i think -80c is overkill, why would you keep your vials for more than 5y? I am looking for a reasonably small fridge with a-18c freezer and what i find is either too big or small enough and not working as it should. Brand wise i don't care as long as it is working as it should

I bought one of those ebay -86C freezers. My understanding is that they were bought in bulk by the NIH and pharmacies for transporting Covid shots. When the Covid crisis ended they dumped them and that is what people are reselling for much less than what they cost new.
As far as why have one, that really is 2 questions: 1) I see it as the industry standard. If you can pick up a used one for a fraction of the price, why not? 2) Do I really need a hoard of peps preserved for 8-10 years? Probably not. The peptide world will be very different in 2-3 years and more will be available for cheaper. However, with the CN and US crackdowns on grey, and the attempt to squeeze the grey market in every way (e.g. no more de minimis exemption; restrictions on BAC water), I see it as an insurance policy. I can never, ever go back to being fat again. I sleep better knowing that I have the meds I need no matter the ever changing attempts to restrict the grey market.

Completely this. Even though with glp medicines and patents ending, research into all the other benefits, I feel within 5 years at least sema will be really easy to get and affordable. Maybe not current grey market sema affordable but not crazy expensive and out of reach like it is now.
