Saturday during the college football games, I decided to relax a bit on my diet and enjoy the evening , had a couple of sausage dogs and a few beers. I’ve been on Reta for about 15 weeks now and down 40 pounds, so I figured I’d celebrate hitting a milestone.

Later that night, though, I started having awful stomach cramps and diarrhea. At first, I thought it might’ve been the shot, but after a couple of days, I started thinking it was more likely from undercooked food.

Has anyone experienced Reta or any GLP-1 medication seeming to prolong a stomach virus or food poisoning? It feels like my system just hasn’t fully bounced back, even after switching to a bland diet, things calm down for a bit, but the diarrhea comes right back as soon as I eat anything more substantial.

Today is actually the first day I haven’t had a bout of diarrhea, but I’m still nervous to eat anything heavy. I decided to skip my shot this week to let my body recover and get back to normal eating before restarting.

I also recently switched suppliers, so I was worried it might’ve been a bad batch, but everyone else in my group buy is fine. Just to be safe, I’m tossing this vial and starting fresh with a new one and new bac water.

Oh my yes. I recently had a bad bout of food poisoning that took almost 5 days to recover, and since being on glp’s I’ve personally noticed that they seem to exacerbate/amplify the effect of any type of gastrointestinal illnesses.
Today is day 5 so I’m on par with you. I was beginning to get worried. Glad I’m not the only one. I’m in reasonable good health and never had a virus or food poisoning last this long.

I’ve had food poisoning causing diarrhea before. But I had to wait until I was on tirz for the diarrhea to be so severe that I passed out from low blood pressure and could not stand upon awakening after passing out. I did manage to crawl to the phone and call 9-1-1. I was quite happy when the paramedics reached me. A short time later, I was on the way to the hospital with a saline IV attached. Fifteen minutes later, I felt much better. The paramedics told me that I must have passed out based upon the minor injuries to my face. I later realized that I had fallen and my face had knocked the toilet paper dispenser off the wall.

Hummm. Now you have me wondering. I tried Reta about 5 months ago and initially thought I had food poisoning, but eventually decided it was the Reta and that I need to stay away from it. But that was from Day 1 of 0.3mg Reta so it was probably just the med. But perhaps it was a combination of the med and something I ate and if I tried again and ate vewy, vewy, clean....

But now I'm remembering the multiple nights when I only got a few hours sleep because I had to run to the bathroom over and over and yeah, I might just stick to my Tirz/Survo combo. Heh.
