Started reta on 04/08 .5 mg. Always had problems with constipation, only remember having good quality poop time during times when i consistently did not eat foods like ice cream, pizzas, alcohol and cola. By quality poop I mean I go to the toilet mostly every 7-9 days. Mostly it is a bigger poop, but not scary or impossible to pass.

Now on reta I made a big mistake and ate ice-cream few days in a row. Now I had an ass destroyer shit on 05/10, I felt like i cant pass it so i used medicine, which helped me, but still, the experience was not pleasure. Now today on 05/19 (even though i had good food and no alcohol during these 9 days, also no poop) I had even worse experience. Currently on 2mg reta. So my thinking is reta makes me poop too hard, its not reta fault, I know my body is just like that.

I have already bought mag07, but internet suggest to not use it constantly. I really don't know what to do, reta works and I want to keep using it, but I also don't want to have such problems ever again, of course I stopped eating ice-cream/milk. The only thing which has lactose in my diet is probably butter/ghee.

Do you have any suggestions on how could I improve my gut? Any similar experiences and how did you made it better? My main concern is that my next toilet experience will be one which will either rip my ass or give me some kind of different problems, because I never pushed so hard as today.

For those of us without an actual underlying medical problem, the best first course is
  • Always stay overhydrated. That means water, not any other beverage.
  • Always eat lots of both types of fiber, while also minimizing carbs. Avoid fruit juices. A couple of prunes 2-3 times a day is good for this. Psyllium husk capsules with lots of water are also good. Things like ice cream are probably not causing the problem other than the fact that they have no fiber.
  • Walk a lot. Once or twice every day.
For those of us who truly don't improve with that, I agree that Miralax taken routinely is a good next step. . It's Polyethylene Glycol 3350 (PEG 3350)—sold over the counter under European brand names like Macrogol, Movicol, or Forlax.

MiraLax short for miracle laxative. It can be safely used for long term. I use 3/4 of a dose every other day. But it takes 2-5 days to start working. Enema is the best choice for urgent relief.
I used micro enema, but it seemed that it could not reach the "source" of my problem, but still it helped a little at least. I see that there are equivalents of miralax in my country, I even have it at home, but I used it only at times when I am in deep trouble, will start using it more often, thanks.

For enema use 240ml (8oz) water, try to hold 15min, lay down on your back, massage stomach counter clock wise. If nothing moves, most likely dehydrated. Drink plenty of water and repeat.

One very important thing I felt in my Reta journey, watch your hydration. I usually drink 4-5 liters a day, but on Reta I'm just not thirsty or don't even think about it, try to really get your electrolytes and hydration in!

Ugh, I have so much sympathy for this. When I have a constipation emergency, I drink senna tea. Works every time for me. Sometimes it works a bit violently, so I truly save it for when things are really rough. Also, I stick close to a bathroom. All the other advice you’ve gotten is great too. Good luck, and happy pooping!

I have this issue. I am currently using MiraFast soft chews. They use magnesium hydroxide. Drink a lot of water along with it.

for my part on reta after 7 days of no poop
body said major fuck you to me and started diareatrutide and expeled everything
and that was at 2mg

now im at 6mg and poop everyday
lots of electrolyte and veggie

slow down reta till your bowel are more regular

I always thought I didn't have "bad" constipation, until Tirz exposed it.

Prior to that I would need coffee, sometimes more than one, to go to the bathroom. But the thing is... it was working because my colon was irritated by it, and I could tell.

After I started Tirz I had to start taking my diet more seriously, and now I don't have that problem anymore.

Most of the things are common knowledge, but still:

- Lots of water and electrolytes.

- Veggies. Not just for fibers but for volume too.

- My favorite daily bowl of: milk kefir, oats, chia seeds. You can add kiwi and banana to make it more powerful. This one made the biggest difference for me

- Walk or, even better, run.

Only add psyllium when you're cleared otherwise you just get more clogged. Fibers are important but are the last thing to think about

I took a laxative like every other day for a while to get things "empty" and then a miralx type thing on the daily for maintenance.

Get a bidet from Amazon. Very easy to install. Sometimes you just need a bit of stimulation down under. I second the massaging of the stomach. I go clockwise, because I am north of the equator. Sometimes I just grab a chunk of intestine and slowly squeeze both ends until the cramp goes away.

I've been fine on reta, but it has occurred to me that i've been taking bpc 157 which is good for your stomach.

That's too funny about miracle laxative. I'll never look at the bottle the same. Because I agree that MiraLax is a miracle. 🤣

My pcp agreed with you that it's safe for long-term use. So, I use a capful 5 out of 7 days now. When I was titrating up, I used it 7 out of 7 days.

For urgent relief, I found a new product that I like, it's a liquid gylcerin. It's in a little applicator that looks like a minature enema bottle. It just makes administering the medication easier.

How much water are you drinking? You do not want to allow constipation to become fecal impactation. You also don't want your body to become dependent on laxatives. Your best course of action is to consume more water and fiber. Good luck!

Careful with the fiber. If your water is off, you can be in for a hell of a cramp. I believe the outcome was a bolus getting created in the colon because digestion had slowed down. I think the person that had the issue ate so much popcorn that it created an immovable ball of fiber in his intestines that they had to go in and remove it. I rarely eat popcorn anymore for that reason. Because it has caused me cramps.

I second the MiraFast suggestion. MiraLax didn’t touch it, but MiraFast did. I do my darndest to get 4-5L water a day now, along with magnesium supplements. I also take fiber gummies, either 12 mg, 3x day or 18 mg, 2x day.

Not to be too vile, but 2 months or so ago, it got so bad that it began pushing on stuff, ended up making me seriously wonder if I had prostate cancer. Struggled to pee, or do anything, even if I really had to go.

Luckily I finally did what I had to. Took roughly 2-3 days for inflammation to go down and now I’m good. And I ended up getting the PSA panel on bloodwork, happy to say I’m at 0.8 total so things are looking up.

Yeah, I second what my BFF Neuro said above, @deiwukas. Miralax didn't work for me either.
So what did you do finally?

Fuck...after my sleeve surgery, popcorn was the only thing I could eat without puking my guts out. I got the cramps too with severe colic like bloat. Hmmm...I should stay away from those teeth-rotting savage kernels.

I can attest to long term use. I had nerve pain for a few years and using oxy it was a life saver for me. Used it daily for over 5 years and made it livable.
