Worst constipation in my life. Please help me or share your experience.

Started reta on 04/08 .5 mg. Always had problems with constipation, only remember having good quality poop time during times when i consistently did not eat foods like ice cream, pizzas, alcohol and cola. By quality poop I mean I go to the toilet mostly every 7-9 days. Mostly it is a bigger poop, but not scary or impossible to pass.

Now on reta I made a big mistake and ate ice-cream few days in a row. Now I had an ass destroyer shit on 05/10, I felt like i cant pass it so i used medicine, which helped me, but still, the experience was not pleasure. Now today on 05/19 (even though i had good food and no alcohol during these 9 days, also no poop) I had even worse experience. Currently on 2mg reta. So my thinking is reta makes me poop too hard, its not reta fault, I know my body is just like that.

I have already bought mag07, but internet suggest to not use it constantly. I really don't know what to do, reta works and I want to keep using it, but I also don't want to have such problems ever again, of course I stopped eating ice-cream/milk. The only thing which has lactose in my diet is probably butter/ghee.

Do you have any suggestions on how could I improve my gut? Any similar experiences and how did you made it better? My main concern is that my next toilet experience will be one which will either rip my ass or give me some kind of different problems, because I never pushed so hard as today.
Heres what i did. Also depends on how bad you are. Mornings you get a jug of prune juice and white grape juice. Equal parts in a mug with a knob of butter. Microwave till hot and down it. If that fixes is good. If not. Next add Miralax/macrogol/glycol 3350 before bed every night till you start getting movement. As soon as you get movement... which you will..because were no longer asking dont stop with the miralax. Because youre gonna wanna see whatever was locked up there get out depending on how long youve been locked up. Once you go from dropping logs like paul bunyan to becoming a sentient soft serve icecream machine youre almost out of the woods. Once you get to buckshot and steak sauce you should be safe to slow down. Also. Gallon of water mandatory a day. Once youre out of the woods carb smart mission tortillas in the rotation. Maintain fluids. If you dont go after all this within 72 hours id atleast see a doctor. If you can fart and you hear your guts moving those are good signs. As soon as those stop those are signs there might be a blockage. Dont fuck around with this its serious stuff. Once i heard guys getting PERMANENT colostomy bags it made me realize it aint a laughing matter. Stay safe good luck.

Assuming you have not already sorted it out yet, it is probably worth treating it as 2 different problems. One is hard impacted poo in the rectum and sigmoid colon, and the other is the problem that caused it.
I would not recommend psyllum husk for acute constipation until you were unblocked, and even then it is actually a very odd fiber that can and does reduce diarrhoea, which is fairly unique for fiber, and I was using it until I started GLP's for chronic diarrhoea, until combined with the GLP drugs it made me constipated. Other fiber types do not do this. The main issue with loading up on fiber while still blocked up is you are going to get abdominal pain.
If blockage is severe local enemas work like miralax, and something non toxic like the osmotic laxative lactulose is effective and less likely to cause much pain as it works, compared with lots of fiber or irritant laxatives. It is not ridiculous to seek medical advice if it gets out of hand.
Then you can worry about increasing fiber intake and fluids etc to manage the chronic side of the problem caused by GLP drugs slowing down gut motility. But if using a fiber supplement be aware that psyllum husk can do the opposite to what you want, it can also help.

Prunes usually help me. It takes a day, but usually something is happening by day two of eating 2 or 3 a day. They were my savior when I switched from Sema to Tirz.

Maybe someone suggested this?

Linzess really helped me. I used to not have a bowel movement for 5-7 days. It really messed me up psychologically. Then on day 7 I would have to use the john. OMG.... without getting into nasty details I can attest that it was painful, long, dry, and unpleasant.

My PCP/GP prescribed linzess. I started having to run to the bathroom because I was having loose stools. He adjusted the dose and then I didn't need it after a few months.

Here is the RX name:

Linzess contains linaclotide, which belongs to the class of drugs called guanylate cyclase-C agonists. The guanylate cyclase type-C (GC-C) receptor is located on the luminal surface of the intestine. Linaclotide works to treat IBS-C, CIC, and FC by stimulating the GC-C receptor to increase fluid secretion, which softens stools and stimulates bowel movements.

MiraLax short for miracle laxative. It can be safely used for long term. I use 3/4 of a dose every other day. But it takes 2-5 days to start working. Enema is the best choice for urgent relief.
I buy the Costco brand of Miralax. My gastro doc said I could take it daily. It's the only thing that works for me!

I use magnesium citrate (in my house we call it magnesium $h!trate 😂). It's a small, ready to drink bottle at Walmart or Target, but don't drink the whole thing. I drink about a quarter to half, and be near a bathroom.

If you want the natural treatments besides increasing your water intake: take a ¼ to ½ a teaspoon of black seed (nigella sativa) oil, 1x/day until its moving. Tastes disgusting, but it works wonders. Or, take 1 tsp of 50% strength of DMSO orally, 1x/day. These two works for me, but pls do your own research.

Good luck and hope things are moving along.

Yeah mag'cit that stuff should come in a pelican case with two jacked russian dudes carrying it. Both inserting keys, so one can grab it with tongs placing it gently on your table. Its the poop'lear (nuclear) option 🤣

That's too funny about miracle laxative. I'll never look at the bottle the same. Because I agree that MiraLax is a miracle. 🤣

My pcp agreed with you that it's safe for long-term use. So, I use a capful 5 out of 7 days now. When I was titrating up, I used it 7 out of 7 days.

For urgent relief, I found a new product that I like, it's a liquid gylcerin. It's in a little applicator that looks like a minature enema bottle. It just makes administering the medication easier.
I keep a stash of Fleet glycerin suppositories on hand. I also take stool softener capsules. <fanning myself> Gosh, this is starting to read like a Tinder profile.

I suffered for years with IBS-C and took Amitiza & Miralax which offered some relief. When I was on Tirz, the IBS-C was even worse. When I went to Reta for maintenance, I began KPV. KPV was a game changer for me. I posted about my KPV experience, which included not only inflammation reduction, but the help it provided for my gut health. Miraculous! Also, more water than you think is enough.

I was an Amitiza user for a while, prior to GLPs

Milk of Magnesia knocks this right out. You need to eat more vegetables with your protein intake.

After Mag-citrate, my gut flora never built back. Every time I had anything with citric acid, BOOM! It took over a year to be able to eat anything tart.

Generic Miralax has been the only thing that has really helped me consistently. I was dragging my feet about it up until a few weeks ago because it's derived from petroleum but it truly has been a miracle worker for my issues. Less than a tablespoon in my protein shake stack has kept me regular.

So many replies, thanks everyone. I managed to get rid of the big blockage and then bought macrogol and used it daily. BTW, when i bought it online (in my country its called Forlax) a doctor called me from a farmacy and asked me why did I buy Forlax. I told them my story and they still said to not use it daily. I dont understand why would they say it. So I started using it daily and I have not shat such good shit for last 20+ years.

Now I want to increase motility, I want to shit at least twice per weak, gonna research that and I am also going to buy KPV or even KLOW for my next purchase of peps. Thank you guys.

I will add that rebounding (on a small indoor trampoline) has helped tremendously. I think that is what helps me the most.

FWIW since on already have it, I use Mag07 4-5x A week, but only 1 capsule. Keeps my morning sit downs nice n easy. Months ago I had a very powerful instance of tirz related constipation, so I did 3-5 capsules for three days and since then I've been doing the one a day for most days thing. Hope you feel better...ugh it sucks!
