Exploring Low-Dose Naltrexone Who Have Tried It. What For, And Your Experience?

LDN has been causing quite the stir lately, and for good reason; some have said it's helped them battle autoimmune diseases and/or chronic pain. This little compound is quite a multitasker, whether we are just trying to reset our receptors for better peptide use or something else. What do people here think? I'd be interested to get people's thoughts.

I've been on LDN for over 4 years. I originally started it because a third round of covid left me with terrible brain fog. The brain fog cleared after about 3 weeks of use. It's had some other effects -- like my dreams are vivid and brightly colored, and a slight improvement in memory.

My daughter developed a rheumatoid arthritis after a parvovirus b19 infection in 2008. Eventually after several months of trying all kinds of things we happened on LDN and were able to get it from a local compounding pharmacy and it completely resolved all her health issues. Our family doctor moved and the new doctor was unwilling to prescribe and her symptoms came back, when we were finally able to get another rx again her symptoms resolved completely (including blood work inflammation numbers). It was like a miracle for my daughter. At the time the pharmacist I talked to said he was really impressed with what he was hearing from other customers, people were mainly taking it for MS and it had only been more recently that he was hearing from people in situations like my daughter so he was always checking in to see how it was going.

More recently, about five years ago my daughter started having issues again. No where near as debilitating as back then and was mainly just in her hips and lower back and even with her history it took forever to get a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. My daughter managed to get some LDN again, much more difficult to source especially since our local compounding pharmacy had closed years ago so I'm not sure what exactly she was trying but she did not find it worked for her this time and is now taking a biologic.

If combined with wellbutrin, it makes a medication called Contrave. Contrave is a pretty awesome med, there are research studies showing that people who start Contrave when going off of GLP1s do not gain their weight back.

Contave is a medication that combined wellbutrin and LDN into one pill, and it is stupidly expensive (of course). Doctors get around this by prescribing wellbutrin and LDN separately. Both are dead cheap.

If I ever have to go off of GLP1s, I will move to contrave, or the backdoor method if my insurance won't cover it.

I took LDN for autoimmune issues, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and Hashimoto's. I had a hard time with side effects from it, mostly sleep related, as in not being able to sleep, and never truly gave it a chance. I was prescribed the 50mg pills, mixed with 50ml distilled water, in an amber bottle and used a calibrated dropper for mini dosing. 2ml never higher than 4. A 50mg pill lasted a long time. My GP prescribed it when I showed her the research of LDN on autoimmune disorders. I have a lot left and am now, after reading pavlovs information (Thank You) about Contrave, am going to give it another go. I began Wellbutrin last summer for treatment resistant depression & ptsd and it's been helpful.. I will update once I begin again and have news to report.

I use the weight loss drug, but only half the recommended dose.
I'm undiagnosed adhd, it gives me energy, and it addresses another pathway involved in obesity, the melano cortin pathway.
But primarily, I use it for energy. (no side effects)
I have a lot of chronic pain patients, who use it for pain, doses both low and high, and it works well for most.
I didn't know about the auto immune stuff, thanks, will look into that.
