Do you guys prime your syringes?

This. Keep it in the vial and get the air out. Movies may do this for 1-drama and 2-to imply a sloppy ‘scientist.’

That said, it’s likely not much product that’s being spilt.

If there’s a tiny small air bubble going IM or SQ, it’s less a problem than an if in an IV line. I’m not a medical professional, do your own research to meet your personal risk avoidance needs.

I do this BUT I don't remove the syringe from the vial when I do it. I find it much easier to draw more than needed and push back to the intended dosage rather than try to nail it on the pull.

Coming from a medical background I was always careful to get rid of the air before injecting, but after a while I realised it really does not matter for a s/c injection. In theory it might be possible to accidentally inject into a vein buried in the subcutaneous tissue, but the amounts of air in tiny insulin syringes like 0.01-0.02ml are definitely not going to cause you to drop dead from an air embolism to your heart.
