I tried 1ml per 10mg (thought it was keeping it low). When I do 5units started w.5mg I'm fine but 10units (1mg) I get pain & bruise + bleed. 32g 4mm needles so they're tiny & thin. 3 of us did same times. It's only me every time

I thought I was just a baby w needles but just realized it might be my skin (I am also really hyper mobile & bruise easy). That's prob why I hate needles so much

Anyone add less liquid? I don't know what I going to do when I go up since I'm already bruising. I do use lidocaine + ice for about 30min before.

Anyone else have this same problem?

Are you using a pen? 4mm is pretty short if not. Might not be getting SubQ.
I use 8mm needles on my insulin syringes and never have an issue.
Are you low on iron?

Yes a pen & got the smallest needles I found. I pinch & have it injected so I can put on headphones & look away. They have no problem only me.

I might have low iron. I have in the past, but it's been fine last blood work. I do normally bruise easily & am hypermobile fingers, knees elbows etc

I was just thinking low iron could be the cause of the bruising.

And I could be wrong, never used a pen, but I thought you weren’t supposed to pinch when using a pen? Just jab it. And that was the reason for the shorter needle.
So you don’t hit muscle.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

bruising is usually caused due to capillaries or blood vessel being punctured from the needle not the pep

Perhaps try 34g insulin pen needles , they are a little more difficult to find , but they are reasonable common , perhaps slightly more expensive. I use them and don't feel the pin. With the numbing solution doubt you'd feel them .

Otherwise it may be be a case of adding some concrete to your milkshake , stir with straw and take a sip to see if that helps you harden up .

I'm not serious with the last comment. Perhaps think of all the kids with type 1 diabetes that shoot up regularly, if kids can do it I'm sure adults can take a small pin.

Are you taking blood thinning drugs, aspirin or other painkillers that might increase bleeding? Where are you injecting? You might get less bleeding if injected into stomach if currently injecting in thighs or even upper arm as the higher sites would have lower venous pressure, but you would need to be careful to make sure it is under the skin not into muscle there. Also injecting slowly causes less bruising, I definitely had more bruising before I realised this.
Low iron levels should not change bleeding or bruising.
You could also try applying light even pressure over the injection site for 2 minutes or so after the injection.

I was using Tirz now Reta neither spicy ones so I didn't think it was those. Just difference both 5units it didn't happen (only a small amount of blood). Then w 10 units both times I felt pain & bruised + bled more

I don't take anything else right now. All times have been in the thighs. Once right mid more front hurt. This time higher outer left thigh. I'm scared to do the stomach. I heard there are lower side effects in thighs & absorbs slower?

Thank you for the tips. I will tell him to do it faster & put pressure after 🙂

Si tienes mucha grasa en el abdomen, utilizaría agujas de 8 mm; las agujas de 4 mm a veces me dejan un ligero bulto rojizo.
In English that's something along the lines of ,

If there's a lot of belly fat, I'd go with the 8 mm needles; the 4 mm ones sometimes leave a small red lump on me.

All good brudda , best to be respectful of the team that run the forum . In the past members have commented in thir home language. The moderators are very generous, however there are rules that need to be respected.

It's a pain in the arse for the moderators to translate multiple languages.

This might sound really basic, but are you pinning in a well lit room in front of a mirror so you can see where the vasculature runs? I find that good light and a mirror improved my technique so I hit vasculature far less often. Also, depressing the plunger slowly is key.

I honestly don't notice any difference in side effects or medication efficacy when I inject in my thighs versus my stomach and vice versa. I very rarely get injection site bleeding or bruising anymore. It happened mostly in the beginning.

If I'm injecting into my stomach, I look to make sure that I'm not injecting on a stretch mark. Not sure if you have any of those. I only have those on my stomach, not my thighs. But I stay clear of those.

One thing that I've changed over time is that I really like to jab myself. I don't sit there and ponder the needle going in. I just do it. I find a little forward motion helps the needle pierce the skin a little easier leading to less pain and less injection site reactions.

I would be concerned about my clotting situation if 5 units with a 4 mm noodle causes bruising. At that rate, you should be bursting blood vessels in your eyes and getting a bloody nose every time you cough, sneeze or go to the bathroom.

Do you take anything that inhibits clotting? Not just aspirin. Vitamin E, ginger, garlic, turmeric, valerian root…….lots of herbs and supplements……. I had to stop turmeric two weeks before a minor procedure. And one week before a colonoscopy.

Yes thank you. I pinch, but have my husband do it for me.

Did you bleed more in any certain area? Not sure why but I feel the 10units vs 5units

Yes, unfortunately I do have stretch marks too on both my stomach & thighs

Were you nervous/not like needles before & now like doing it? What do you mean by forward motion? Thank you very much!! 🙂

My Dr did have me do a whole work up of blood. On my upper back under my shoulder I do have a black & blue for several years now that I have no idea how I got it. I wouldn't have known if my husband didn't see it. Checked for everything incl hemophilia, etc + went to Dermatologist & got a punch biopsy & still no clue. Its still there 2-3 years later.

I don't get bloody noses or blood clots in my eyes either. I have no clue, I'm always a mystery to Drs, ha ha.

Nothing at all. We eat garlic & ginger in food we make, but I'm only taking magnesium nothing else at all. Has that happened to you?

No man, bruising and bleeding isn't normal. I meant, bruising is if it's KLOW, but bleeding isn't usual. Also:

I glanced at the forum rules, because the only time I've seen any conversation about language preferences is when people advise the vendors not to post in Chinese for customer-reach reasons, and when a mod stops someone who's wandered into the Continental Cafe section and is bothering people who were speaking in something other than English. It was nice of you to translate, but I don't believe it's frowned on to post in Spanish.

I'm scared to do the stomach.

I tried thighs on and off at the beginning because KLOW hurt. It hurt WAY more on the thighs and I went back to lower abdomen. For anything other than klow, I don't even feel the needle go in when I go there. I AM about to pinch the back of my arm with a hair clip and do there, though, because somebody said it earlier and that sounds cool.

Update: OW, fuck!! Ok, so that sucked. First of all the HAIR CLIP hurt. And the needle did too. Man, I'm staying with the abdomen, screw that.

I must have really thin skin or a lot of capillaries in my legs, ha ha. I bleed a little every time & when I did the 10 now it has a very dark bruise, but not that big.

My friends do the stomach & say it doesn't hurt them. The back of my arms are the most sensitive spot I have anywhere though. Someone can grab the back of my arms & that realllyyyy hurts anytime, so not sure I will be trying there. I hope it works great for you & no pain at all. Let us know how that goes 🙂

Sad to hear that hurt!! Hope the pain goes away fast!! I can't even imagine!! 🙁
It was worth it for science. But yeah, abdomen (specifically the lower part, two inches to the left or right of and below the navel), the first time I ever injected, I had a long pause where I was like "Ok, I can see that the needle is in me, but I felt nothing. OMG, do I have nerve damage or something?"

It is really common for women to bruise more easily than men, not sure what the mechanism is. Estrogen and capillary fragility?. I had lots of bruising until I realised I needed to inject more slowly, but I was taking low dose aspirin, at least until it caused gastric ulcers that bled dropping my iron levels to not much. Does not seem to happen on clopidogrel , but I am injecting slowly now. In my experience stomach is definitely the least painful. There are studies showing minor differences in absorption rates from stomach vs thighs vs arms but in practice it does not really matter.
