I started at 152lbs, am still 152lbs. Goal 134lbs. (F46)

I've done 2 weeks at 1 mg, and 1 at 2 mg. Just pinned 2 again.

I train weights 4 times a week, nothing super serious but to keep muscle going. Cardio 2x a week. 10k steps every day. Calorie tracked to between 1000 and 1200 everyday.

So I hit deficit, don't have the hunger I used to have but eat to make sure I am not under nourished (usually get about 100g protein).

So the reta is working for my food noise and appetite suppression. But wtf can I still weigh the same?

Is it body recomp? Fat down but muscle probably up? I dont have a machine to tell me.

Definitely feel it working though (very dry lips and mouth, good energy at the gym too)

I was curious about how Reta compares to other weight loss strategies. For me the initial weight loss was epic incredible, 40 pounds in the first 9 weeks. Mostly inflammation due to autoimmune disease, prednisone moon face and so on. After that, Reta settled down to a steady 1.5 pounds per week until lately, where I'm hovering 1-3 pounds over my goal weight (not worried, I'm happy where I am)

Anyway, my point is that Reta at higher doses is actually more effective over the long term than abject starvation. Hard to believe, but true. There are over 9000 people involved in the various studies and in Phase 3, 100% of them start at a 2 mg dose. This is for tolerance and effectiveness reasons. 1 mg was markedly less effective but still had the same level of side effects as 2mg. About 17% had nausea. A 4 mg starting dose a stunning 60% had nausea.

In other words, 2mg for a month, then up each month to an effective dose. It does seem reaching goal weight for the truly obese takes half a year with significant doses for most. But close comes faster.

it take like a year to gain 5lbs of lean muscle mass

with reta the acceleration phase start at the 1 month mark

First thought is always are you eating more calories than you think? If you are using something like MyFitnessPal and just clicking the recommendations that come up, it has been shown those numbers can be wildly off.

Second thought, if the tracking is right, is that those calories are probably too low. Your body is going to fight too high a deficit. It can't out run it forever, but it will try. You may get better results with around a 500 calorie deficit, with your level of activity, I would guess thats about another 500 calories.

Third thought, recomp could explain some but its a stretch. If your intensity isn't high you are going to struggle to gain any muscle at that kind of a deficit. If you have never lifted before, you could see some gains, but it isn't going to be that much that fast.

So I would say mostly, you are doing all the right things. Maybe look at your tracking and consider adding some calories. Your body can only fight the weightloss for so long. The laws of thermodynamics always win.

It took 3-4 weeks for the Reta to build up in my system enough to start seeing weight loss! If you’re dialed in on calorie tracking (under/over is still easy to do for me at 5’3- not a lot of caloric wiggle room) then just wait it out…my scale didn’t move at all until week 4- despite calorie deficit and working out. Now I’m down 12 lbs in 8 weeks!

I know that there is a lot of anti CICO sentiment but that is the first place and usually the answer to every single thread like this. (And there are a lot of these). Usually its the case of "I don't actually track/I know what I eat without tracking/I've tracked in the past/A website said my maintenance was X"

Is your app/tracker giving you net calories? If that is the case toggle that off.

You can pretty safely ignore calculators once you start tracking, take your average intake over 2 weeks or so and your weight over that same time period. That is going to tell you what your maintenance/deficit/surplus was over that time period (and only that period because these things change over time)

Three weeks is early. Give it time and stick to the recommended dose escalation schedule. You aren't even at a 'therapeutic' dose yet.

It's apparent from the trial results that there are low responders but they are definitely in the minority. Retatrutide is clearly the most effective drug treatment for obesity to date.for most people.

And I believe the trial results underestimate the actual effects of treatment at the higher dose levels. Several participants of the various trials have commented on Reddit that they began skipping doses and hoarding pens once they reached their target weight rather than dropping out or informing the provider. Unethical, but understandable given that they would be cut off at the end of the trial and face possible rebound weight gain.

These trials would have better compliance if all participants were promised continued follow-up maintenance treatment for some minimal time at the end of the study period.

Considered whether the Reta is legit?

Also if you are UK based nearly all the Puregyms have body comp machines in changing rooms so can grab a day pass and use one

You need to stay on that 2mg for 4 weeks, then jump to 4mg. Let the stuff build up and start working. I see so many here jumping all over with doses and wanting instant results.

You could stack cagri, which would be like having your own CagriReta (instead of CagriSema).

I finally got to 4.5 mg of reta and not impressed so far. But I'm biased since I am used to more suppression with tirz per mg. So I am going to up my reta dose sooner than later and/or stack with something else (like cagri or tirz).

We are such an on demand society. We want results right now. Overnight. Instant gratification. Give it time to work. 4 weeks at one dose. If no results, up it and watch for 2 weeks....
