Can someone give me the TLDR on pens

I just use a pen for the pep I use most often to start.

If you’re doing something every day than start there.

I'm glad I waited because if I got 14 different pens plus another 4 different peps coming, that's 18 pens altogether. 🤣 😭
Then another 100+ cartridges, and 100+ filters....

But what you say makes more sense --- I will get 6 pens instead. 🤣

Why the needle tip variation?
do they make pens that hold more than 3mL qtys, or do you just have to split your peps that require additional mL's - like 5mL's of NAD would require 2 x 3mL cartriges, when you burn through the first 3mL you plug and play the second?

You'll likely end up using both at some point, and they're cheap enough that it's easier to just buy both at the start.

For me, it's 8mm for Klow so I don't bruise as much, and 5mm for most other things.

If you're getting different pens for different peps, get them in different colors too!
It will make it harder to get confused... unless you go down the path of Niimbot, but that's another rabbit hole!

I'll second the sharpness/convenience and also add that there's just a lot less "sharps" garbage. You just have the tiny. pen needles! If you use 8 insulin syringes a day you're going to fill up a box in a week or two.

I use any hard plastic container. Laundry detergent container, dish pod container, protein power container...

Got myself a V2 and did my first shot today from it. Holy cow is that waaay better than insulin needles. Did not feel a thing!

I think pens are so much quicker & easier to use.

You dont have to worry about the needle getting dull/er 1st drawing whatever you are using.

The 32g 4mm are so small & you can barely feel those.

I got all my supplies from Goodies. I like buying from them. To me it feels like a smaller family business & they have been really nice.

I have several of the Mrs goodlifes but just got this one & its so smooth https://goodlifesupplies.com/product/v4/ even more than the Ergo2.

Their 32g 4mm tips are even better than name brand too!!

The V2 is a great inexpensive pen. But just wait until you try an auto injector. You’ll want to replace your V2.

I have the convipen and gansulin pen. Which are essentially the same. Heard good things about the gensupen just haven’t got around to trying it.

Okay noob question. I'm pinning myself like 8 times a day.

If I use a pen instead, how would that help me? Is it reusable? Does it hurt less? Is the needle shorter or longer so I can use it anywhere on my body? What's the pros/cons?

1) far less wasted plastic.,also wasted effort. You draw and load the cartridge once. Then each time you dose, you wipe, add small pen needle, set dose and pin. wipe recap and put it in fridge.
2) The needles; pen needles can be much shorter, and thinner, so they go in easier with less pain, also because they weren't jammed through a rubber plug. I use 32G 4mm for my glps, 8mm for Klow.
3) Storage space; a box of 100 pen needles is the size of a soda. Sharps: barely take up space.
4) Colorful! using different colors make running different peps easy. I dont have to label anything.

The pens with closed caps keep the cartridge clean and safe.
I use manual V1s, but may switch to auto for Klow since it would be easier pinning on backside.
No cons. filtering into a cartridge does require a little more finesse though.

Filtering into a cartridge sucks - only because removing the air bubble is a PITA.

Which pens did you decide to go with?

I ended up buying a few different ones - V1, V2 (which they didn't send), Mrs. Goodie, and the V4. I've pinned with all 3 I did receive and don't seem to notice too much of a difference. I will buy more... because, why not.

So - I have a question.

When I ask ChatGPT, it tells me that you can only use proprietary cartridges with pens made by Lilly (Savvio, Luxura) and Sanofi (AllStar).

But then I find stores selling these, claiming that they use generic 3ml cartridges (no adapters needed). ChatGPT warns that even though this might work, it can lead to dose inaccuracy and other issues.

What are your thoughts?
