New York Times, Why Ultrathin Is In - When it comes to fashion models, the body diversity revolution appears to be at an end (March 20, 2025), unlocked article, https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/...e_code=1.5k4.sSDm.uApVijucjoER&smid=url-share

I was kind of hoping that people being able to lose weight more easily would lead to folks becoming less obsessed with being super skinny. Think back to the 40s and 50s when models we heavier than they are now but the general population was skinnier. Models still tended to be skinnier, but there wasn't as much of a difference between the weights of normal people and models. However, it looks like people may becoming more focused on crazy levels of thin. Being healthy thin is good. Working to get to crazy levels of thin is bad.

Many average weight people take glp1s to get skinny. I sort of expected that to happen.

You were right: I was hoping that this was not going to happen. For people like me, there was not much of an issue whether using the medicine would make me healthier. For skinny people, things get more problematic.

I dont know if it's more or less problematic than what they were already doing. Ive heard of people microdosing with binge eating disorders to help with food noise for example. That seems like a positive even if the person was skinny.

I took it to lose vanity weight sort of. I probably could have lost weight with a lot of willpower and suffering as I've done before having kids. It just makes it 10000x easier. Even if someone wanted to lose 5-10lbs I think its okay if they take glp1s.

Skinny is subjective too.

I would be curious about the requirement for maintenance. Anecdotally, you here that abrupt weight gain can occur when stopping the peps, so if someone tried to "lose a few" pounds, would they be bound to maintenance as a result? I have read of multiple other benefits to GLP-1s but am very curious as to what the threshold for maintenance would be when "micro dosing"?
Have there been any studies on this? or Have there been any studies on Maintenance requirements in general?
I have lost 60+ pounds and believe that the maintenance requirements are more than a fair trade off for the health benefits. Would the same be true for 10-20lbs?
