I see lots of other topics but wondering how many other people are checking blood sugars? Not at all, set schedule or from time to time?

Given many of the medications were first designed to lower blood sugar and a number of people are stacking or sometimes using higher doses what are people seeing?

Very low blood sugars can be very serious. One of the reasons I tend to titrate slowly.

Thoughts or experiences?

When I first started it was kind of a rage for a while for people to be regularly checking their levels, some even went as far as getting a CGM. It's not something people talk about much too frequently anymore though.

Back then I bought a meter kit and checked mine a few times, but it was always fine even though for the first few months I basically ate nothing with added sugars and would even get lightheaded occasionally when standing up too fast etc. The consensus at the time seemed to be that for non-diabetics who were eating something rather than letting the appetite suppression develop into a kind of starvation diet it was mostly a non-issue.

I've been checking mine daily for 17 months since starting Mounjaro. Script and gray Tirz rock solid glucose readings avg 92 and took about 6wks to get there after starting. I still get the Dawn Phenomenon but mild and even after a carb heavy meal spikes are mild. Now in maintenance trying Sema and at first wacky readings but not concerning. After a couple months leveled off and I'm again averaging 92. Maybe it was the overlap of Tirz leaving my system or my Sema titration which was conservative.

I used Cagri with both and I find it effective extending my suppression on days 5/6. Cagri seemingly has no effect on my glucose.

I am a type 2 diabetic and have a continuous glucose monitor that sends a reading every 15 minutes. I do 10mg tirz a week with 4mg survo a week, and very rarely drop below a hundred. It didn't go any lower when I added Survo than it was when I was taking tirz alone. For type 2s, so long as we have a functioning liver, our liver is going to kick in and start releasing glycogen/glucose if we get too low. I can watch it happen in real time, if I drop to about 65, my next reading will be 80, then 105 without eating or drinking anything.

I wouldn't try that with insulin, though.
