The 1811 series jobs make great money. They go noncompetitive to GS-12, get 25% for Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime, Law Enforcement Available Pay, Overtime, FLSA. I retired in 2016 and was pulling about $150k not including all of the per diem.

I well remember end of the fiscal year during my Air Force career - the squadron had to spend down everything - one year we bought artificial potted ficus trees for the building lobby and an $800 theater popcorn machine for the lounge. I agree fentanyl is a huge problem. I think different ports of entry have different priorities based on where most of their freight originates.
