Uhg, this GoLYTELY is so freaking nasty. I have been off glp1s for basically a month. Was supposed to have this done on the 26th of last month but my potassium levels were off the charts so they pushed it to 6/10.

Once bloods were retested it was at normal ranges again.

Why post here?

Well I was down to 213 and change a month ago? And now im hovering between 218 and 219 so ended up 5 or 6 pounds heavier just taking the month off. Damn. I should be approaching Onederland now instead of having to backtrack.

And hopefully no.surprises from my procedures. After reading the colonoscopy subreddit, im convinced that it is nightmare fuel and I never should have opened that one...

At least I dont have to go to work today 😄

I drove my father to his colonoscopy. Its as close to a gay date as straight men will experience. You clean out the day before, go to a strange place, take a drug, have a guy snake a tube up in ya, then go for a late breakfast.

Enjoy the ride, give yourself the grace gaining a few pounds, get back to routine.

Good luck brother those couple days waiting for results are brutal I know. Just had a CT scan done (kidney cancer stage one two years ago) and I was finally able to take my phone off DND after being scared to death the last two days.

Sincerely wish you luck and just keep doing all you can to be as healthy as you can for as long as you can.

I've had a couple. Honestly, its not a big deal. The prep is a bigger pain than the procedure. You will generally know the results by the time you wake up. If they need to send something out for testing it will take a few days but its a lot more likely to be nothing than it is to be an issue, so don't borrow trouble and assume it will be fine.

Yep --- and you get to get stoned on some great drugs! Prep sucks though.
Best wishes to the octopus.

Thanks fellas, getting old sucks. And hiding from health issues until my late 40's was a terrible, no good, yukking my yum idea.

Quitting smoking, losing weight, recent surgeries and Dr. Appointments are now important things in my life. Not gonna live forever apparently!

Oh and Tirzmonkey wish you the very very best, sounds like you are taking your health in hand, and wish you success in your future health.

And just wanted to add, my paid chatgpt assistant is funny as hell and of course nearly like chatting with a real person...

Has been with me every step of the way through my health journey and thiugh I kn ow so many people hate AI...

Just cant reccomend it enough!

Such a huge positive help to get through difficult things.

We are all in the same boat. I was lucky my 10 year old step son gave me a bad stomach virus and I ended up in the emergency room two years ago March. They found a 3.4 cm tumor as an incidental finding or eventually it would have killed me. Two years later I am good. Very small chance of recurrence but I still do the scans for as long as insurance will pay for it (unlike my weight loss drugs hahah). Look forward to hearing from you after it’s over good luck again.

I had my scope done at 52 she said i was a member of the 10 year club because was I fairly clean. Nope not 10 years or ever again unless my PSA rises. She said I had Diverticulosis in one spot. I can't prove she made a bad turn in there but I ended up 3 yrs.or so later with Diverticulitis with a perforation. My body stunk like dogshit for 3 weeks, my breath became horrible. Then my stomach pain was crippling. That whole time bile was leaking into places it shouldn't. Two days of seriously strong IV antibiotics saved me from Sepsis. Gut health is super important, I found out the hard way. Early detection would've saved my dad's life. Glad to hear you folks did the right thing the scope sucks big but I out for mine. Peace!! Stay healthy.

Well you might end up losing all your gained weight today!!

I watched a YouTube video where a couple of anesthesiologists discuss the need (or not) to stop GLP1's before a colonoscopy, and I'll be damned if I can find it. They discussed not stopping the GLP1, but having the patient abstain from solid food for 24+ hours to ensure no solid food remains in the stomach. Products like Ensure Clear contain enough calories that the patient won't starve. The takeaway was that stopping a GLP1 a week before a colonoscopy might not be absolutely necessary. My next colonoscopy isn't for 3 years, so I'll be curious to see if the pre-scope protocols are modified.

It's not bad as it may seem you'll be fine they sedate you heavily. Like the other folks said it's the prep that sucks barium doesn't taste to good that's all. I wish you a perfectly clean screening.

I had to be off Tirz for 7 days before the colonscopy. Dr. did not even ask, just the pre-procedure instructions mentioned it.

My prep was a bunch of miralax and laxative in Gatorade. I didn't get any abdominal pain but it was a sh!t flood. Other than the depressive thought of being violated, my procedure was very uneventful. Not even a massive post-prod fart.

That "over the counter" prep just seems so much better than whatever that prescription crud is they give people.

The farts were hilarious - people were just ripping ass in the recovery room (and encouraged to do so). I felt awful for those nurses. What a terrible gig!

My PCP who did my colonoscopy had me drink Powerade (no red colored) and take a laxative like Ducolax or Exlax. He said it works just as well and he was the one who had to deal with the results. Then his practice became part of the hospital and he had to abide by their standard protocols and back to the prescription laxative stuff.

In the waiting roo. Now!
Damn -- it's like 2 or 3 o'clock and you're having it done now? When did you have to start the GoLYTEly? Last night? That's the killer .... the time between when you were last allowed to eat anything and when your procedure is. My last one was supposed to be at 12 but I was the 5th one of the day so it was more like 1PM.

It's kinda crazy how people you've never met, and couldn't even pick out of a line up, run thru your head after reading something like this lol.

I need an update amigo, a sign of life, something 😂

All day I've just been thinking like damn, I hope that octopus dude's ass is alright.

So, I guess, thoughts and prayers are appropriate here?!
