Completely Butchered First Recon Attempt

First ever attempt at a recon went smoothly until the filtering phase. Attached the filter to the syringe, then the needle to the filter. Screwed and pushed everything tight and snug -- at least so I thought. The reconned peptide immediately started leaking from the luer lock part of the syringe/filter. I removed the filter and reattached to the syringe, screwing EXTRA tight this time... still leaking. Did it again... STILL leaking. Finally removed and tightened it as if my life depended on this thing not leaking. Finally no leak and was able to shoot about 1ml left in the syringe into the vial. I reconned with 2.5ml of bac water, so lost about 1.5ml. Anybody else have to tighten that sucker on with all your might? I'm a dude and I was struggling with this thing. I can't imagine an old lady trying to do this. Maybe I did something wrong?

That is not normal at all, I don't tight mines at all, I just push until it's snug

Can you show us the filters, needles and syringes you got?

I suspect your vial was over pressurized. The back pressure in the vial causes the bac to leak out wherever it can.

Can you show us the filters, needles and syringes you got?

I got Tisch 4mm filters, Easy Touch 3ml syringes, and Dynarex 25g 5/8" needles. I got all of those supplies from peptidetest. I think maybe I should have pushed down more rather than twisting it on.

I suspect your vial was over pressurized. The back pressure in the vial causes the bac to leak out wherever it can.

I had a needle sticking out of the vial to act as a vent for back pressure. The amount of pressure I was applying when it was leaking wasn't much at all anyway.

well back pressure was definitely not the problem. Sounds like you just didn't get the filter screwed on properly. It shouldn't take more than finger strength and you'll only get a ~half rotation but you should see filter lock in.

Did you equalize the pressure in the sterile vial you were injecting the the reconstituted peptide into?

I didn't think I needed to since I had a needle sticking into the sterile vial acting as an escape vent for the back pressure. Maybe I need to inject air into sterile vial too?

well back pressure was definitely not the problem. Sounds like you just didn't get the filter screwed on properly. It shouldn't take more than finger strength and you'll only get a ~half rotation but you should see filter lock in.

you can practice with the same filter and syringe with some water. try again, post a photo of the connection if you can't seem to figure it out
