Could GLP1 patches be in our future?

I saw on reddit that there's some companies out there selling glp1 skin patches that I'm sure are pure snake oil.
But I did some googling and saw that there's a company that has come up with a real patch that they say successfully delivers semaglutide in pre-clinical trials and is starting clinical trials this year. But yikes, the website for this company says the patch works by delivering the meds via "microneedles"

Honestly a weight loss patch sounds awesome and I hope these efforts come to fruition.

The microneedles are probably exosomes which is "the next big thing" in skincare, people seem to rave about Reedle shot.

I'd assume the transdermal/micro-needle could be something like what the CGM looks like in the Libre glucose monitor, maybe? But instead of measuring the glucose in interstitial fluid, they do a a release system to slowly get a GLP-1 dosage throughout the life of the patch.

I could see how this might be usable vs. the other release systems that are questionable at best (I saw gummies and sublingual -- full BS in my world).

I'd like to see peer reviewed clinical studies of efficacy. Honestly between the patch vs. subQ injection, I stay with subQ all the way.

yeah looks like they're kicking off clinical trials now

but yeah i'm fine with SQ, however many people may not be and an alternative would be good

If they are anything like the patches that already exist, they are more like the ones on Zitstikas. You can barely even feel them. I would be hard to convince there is any real alternative to injections.

the only thing that was mildly convincing to me was the fact that this company's patches are basically a bandaid full of little needles that quietly inject you with meds for a week.
