Found a solid vendor with great reviews, COA’s and pricing. Now it’s time to make the crypto leap. I have PayPal and feel comfortable purchasing from there. From my research, I believe I’ll need to download a wallet that I can use to transfer crypto to. Vendor accepts USDT/USDC Solana and Ethereum. Does it sound like I’m on the right track? Thanks for your time and insight.

yes - the track is right.

Exodus is a good wallet too. Just don't purchase or swap inside the wallets (very expensive); only transfer.

This is a good introduction.

Everyone likes the Coinbase wallet.

Is Coinbase self-custodial? I'm hearing reports of folks losing their accounts for buying peps through Coinbase.
The last thing you want to do is lose an account on an exchange over sending funds to drug dealers, a self-custodial wallet breaks the chain where banks are in your business.
Beginners seem to do well with Exodus and Trust Wallet in my limited experience.
I buy PYUSD on PP and use the wallet's swap options to convert it to what I need from there.
On Telegram STG's Crypto channel has been very helpful.

I know Exodus has removed their Web3 feature from new wallets (thankfully I have the old where it's still useable), how do you do your swaps outside of Exodus?

Can’t help you there. No idea. Do the Exodus. I use trust wallet but they charge a 8% fee to buy within the wallet like someone mentioned earlier. But my time and sanity is worth every nickel. I love the trust wallet. There is a thread on how to use PayPal and pay no fees. I read into it about 15 secs and decided fees were fine.

The best way I found is to use something like jumper.xyz. Works with Exodus.

The other way is to transfer out to some exchange, convert there, and then transfer back in the form that you want.

The funny thing is most of us started buying from compounders spending tons of cash. Than we ended up at this forum. I call heaven. And now we are upset paying a small fee on crypto. Just use trust wallet. It’s super easy and fast. Not to mention extremely safe. Each trade has multi factor identity too so the scumbags don’t go near it. If you’re broke find the thread on doing it free.

Last time I bought PYUSD in PayPal, then transferred it to Coinbase. From there I swapped it for USDC, then sent it to my exodus wallet. The fees were minimal.

My bad, I sent the PYUSD to exodus then I swapped it there. I didn't even involve coinbase this time. The whole thing overall only cost me $2.02 in fees.

Thank you. Let me ask you a dumb question. Just downloaded exodus. Why can’t I just do everything within exodus such as buy and then send to vendor. Please excuse my greenness.

Not the person you asked, but it's because within the wallet these operations (buying, swaps etc.) are extremely expensive. Now, "extremely" is relative to the "normal" level of fees you encounter in the crypto world, but you may not care about it much. It just annoys me enough to want to use alternatives.

Thank you, that makes perfect sense. I think I have it down now. Going to purchase PYUSD & ETH through PayPal and send to Exodus wallet. Sounds like if I want to save some money I would send to coinbase first to make the swap and then send to exodus.
