I am struggling to understand what kind of filters to buy and if needle size actually matters for filtering peptides. I only do Tirzepatide at the moment. I’ve watched the videos but I still feel like I might not be buying the right products.

These are the "standard" filters you can use to help sterilize product.

I usually get smaller ones only because it doesn't take as much product out compared to the ones shown above.

There are groups out there that test for mass, purity, endos and sterility so you won't have to worry about sterilizing product; doing your own sterilization process can further contaminate the product especially if you're not using proper protocol, but I guess peace of mind, right? 🤣

I use 2213’s and 3ml syringes with 25g 1.5” needles for the draw. The longer needle makes it easier to draw the full contents of the vial.
I feel like the 25g leaves a giant hole in my vial, I switched to 30g. I imagine it would work fine either way though right? Like 25g doesn’t have some kind of benefit over 30g? It’s just preference?

The thinner 30g might bend in longer lengths

I checked & actually using 22g for 1.5"

The size difference is not as much as you would think, plus the size of the "hole" doesn't matter because you should NOT be re-using the same vial once you draw out the fluid to filter it; that would negate the reason for filtering.

I've used 25g, 27g, 30g noodles anywhere from 1-1.5". I haven't noticed any meaningful difference between any of them. I just use what I have on hand.

The filters I use are 13mm 0.22 micron PES filters. I've also used 4mm before. Some people say you can only push 1mL through a 4mm filter, but I've successfully pushed 4-5mL through one before, especially with tirz. You just need to push it through slower than a 13mm so you don't risk blowing out the filter. Here's the link for the filters that i buy.

First of all, I’m really glad you’re filtering your peps. Once you get used to it and get into the groove, it honestly becomes pretty straightforward.. and almost therapeutic.

For needles, I generally use whatever I have available. For pulling the pep, I prefer something around 22–25g for speed, but for the actual filtering step, the needle size doesn’t matter that much in my experience.

If you want to keep things simple and lean, I’d just get a big box of 25g 1.5" needles. You can use them for drawing, filtering, and as an airer, so that covers most situations without needing a bunch of different needle sizes.

Oh? I must try this! But why do you have 4-5mL of tirz? Is it T100 and does it come in a 5mL vial? Just being nosy.

Sorry, that was a bit unclear. 🙃 I've pushed through 4-5mL of other peps, but if OP is only pushing tirz with 1-2mL, a 4mm filter should be perfectly fine. I don't think I would know what to do with T100. Since I'm almost on maintenance at 5mg, that would go bad before I could ever use it up. lol

Right, I filter it into a new sterile vial, but I feel like it leaves a bigger hole in the top of the sterile vial. Maybe I’m not using the right vials.

I use Biologix 13mm 22um filters. 100 for about $50. I use cheap Amazon 3 and 5ml syringes and 23g 1.5" needles for reconstituting with Hospira, and sucking the mix back out. I have 1" needles for pushing the filtered peptide into the new vial.

Provided you swap the needle out before you dispense it into whatever the final destination is. I guess I should be doing that.

Hell yeah. I push the BAC in with a 23g 1"and draw with a 23g 1.5, filter into the new vial with another 23g 1". These 3 and 5ml luer lock syringes and needles are cheap on Amazon for boxes of 100. It doesn't other me using so many.

It sounds like you're still using the contaminated draw needle to re-inject the filtered solution into a sterile vial, again negating the value of filtering.

As mentioned by Vash in the post quoted above, he was suggesting using a 25G 1.5" needle to DRAW the solution out of the vial.

When you inject the filtered solution into a new sterile vial, you should be using a completely new sterile needle of whatever gauge size you wish (and again, the difference in size between a 25G and 30G is .008"—eight THOUSANTHS of an inch—and completely irrelevant when using a modern self-healing rubber stopper so stop worrying about the size "hole" it makes).

I use 4mm filters to filter if my volume is 3ml or less. If it's more than that, I use the 13mm filters.

No matter what, I ALWAYS use the 13mm filter on the needle I use to vent the cartridge, because they're cheaper.

My mom is having the HARDEST time wrapping her head around that. Every time she recons, I see her trying to vent with a 4mm or using a 13mm to filter. I feel bad, like I must not be explaining it in a way that's intuitive to her.

First time I've heard of someone attaching a filter to the venting needle. To filter the air getting in, I suppose? Interesting idea. We had a whole discussion about non-sterile air getting into the vial. I wonder, though, if it works for air alone. Is this common?

I got it from the filtering video on PeptideTest. A lot of people scoff at it and say its to sell more filters, but it made good sense to me so I do it. If I were filtering into vials, which you sorta HAVE to put air into over time so you're not fighting a vacuum to get the liquid out, then I might not do it; but I'm filtering into cartridges, where the very first thing you do after you get the peptide in is purge all the air and more never goes in; so it seems like a good practice for that.

No, I always change to a clean needle to reinject into a sterile vial. I appreciate your feedback!

A little off topic but does anyone mind sharing a solid source for sterile vials??

I think the only truely sterile vials are the ALK vials. Can get them on farrislabs or qcvialz

Alot of people use the chinese ks-tek vials but I think you can't fully trust them

You want sterile and depyrogenated.
