Many of us are on a sleep improvement journey and I thought we should have a dedicated sleep thread to share what we have tried and what works.

Throughout my life I’ve found most things that help me sleep tend to make me sleep hard but shorter. This includes most intense exercise and even CJC1295.

Getting into bed at a set evening time like 9pm has really helped.

Got epithalon on the way. Thinking about starting magnesium supplements.

But what have you tried and what has worked for you?

I have Epitalon on the way, should be here today I think, can't wait to try it. I intend to use Pocket's plan.

DSIP did nothing at all for me.

I take mag glycinate, glycine, and taurine originally to help with sleep.

DSIP wrecked my sleep. Epitalon with DSIP was more or less neutral. Neither were noteworthy.

Magnesium doesn't help me at all. I don't stay up too late and can fall asleep pretty well but the staying asleep seems to be a chore. My naturopath prescribed a cortisol supplement but it didn't seem to help either. I do have a trial vial of epitalon so perhaps it's time to give it a shot. Hubby has the same sleep issues. He pins reta once a week and I stack tirz with a small amount of reta (tirz every 5-6 days and reta in between).

Good thread -

My sleep issue is that I wakeup about 3 hours after falling asleep and then I'm up for hours. Probably due to cortisol spikes. I tried DSIP, but it did nothing for me.
I started taking 400mg of Magnesium Glycinate at bedtime and it's made a huge difference. I am getting a great night of sleep about 90% of the time. I wear an Apple Watch to track my sleep and the stats are backing up how I feel. For me, Magnesium Glycinate is one of my all-time top supplements.

Still interested to hear how Epitalon works for you guys.

Do you take a specific magnesium glycinate? Or is it all the same as long as it is magnesium in that form?

I just got some Magnesium glycinate to add to my evening mushroom tea. It got delivered today. I am looking forward to trying it and seeing how it makes me feel.

I already take magnesium but I'm going to add glycine to see if that helps. But I got a call into my neurologist before I take it because it says it's not recommended if you have seizures.
Should I take magnesium glycinate or take them separately?

The Bryan Johnson (live forever guy) has solid advice:
  • Turn off all screens an hour before bedtime.
  • Stop eating/drinking 3 hours before bed (front load water in the morning)
  • Read a physical book (not tablet) ten minutes before bed
  • No strenuous activity 3 hours before bed
  • Darkness and silence if possible in your bedroom; cool temp like 68 degree
When I have actually stuck to this, it does work. Problem is sticking to it is hard. I'm human, what can I say? NBA Finals or other stuff mucks it up.

Edit: 😂@ OP's username. Dunno why he had to get a damn rhinoplasty and ear thing. His descension has begun lol.

This.

And (re)building tour circadian rythm.
Go to bed at the same time for at least a week and also wake up at the same time.

Get sunlight into your eyes (go outside, not through a window) within the first 30 minutes after waking.

You will notice a HUGE difference.

It will suck pretty hard the first couple of days. Not sleepy when going to bed and groggy when waking up. Just keep it up.
It will get easier every day.

My problem is one night of doom scrolling mucks it all up and the cycle returns. But maybe I will get better eventually 🤞.

Oh, yea, I forgot to mention to get some sun during the day if you can for vitamin D. Avoid the areas that get more sun like arms/face/lower legs, if possible. That's me, not BJ.

You'll have to force it. Auto disable apps and or internet access if you have to.
Don't bring your phone into your bedroom (buy a cheap alarm clock).

Epithalon at 1mg daily for a month, then used as needed (usually once or twice a week) worked amazing for the 2 rats in our house. One rat has had sleep problems since their 20's. They now sleep through the night. I found that after the initial "onboarding" of a 30 day cycle and a 2 week break, the rat would get sleepy during the day if epi was given once a day. Switching to once or twice a week solved that problem.

I take magnesium at bedtime. It helps me

Also, if you can get a script from your dr metformin helps also
