HELP me out: Women's Hair loss from Tirz

Tirz never caused diarrhea for me, though when I started metformin, that caused loose stools. My endocrinologist who Rx'd it (and Zepbound) told me metformin is known to cause B12 deficiency, so I supplement with sublingual methylated B12.

We're in the middle of doing more in-depth blood work including Ferritin and several more detailed thyroid values (t3, t4, reverse t3 and TPO antibodies) to figure out my fatigue. I told him fatigue and hair loss was a common side effect reported by lots of people on Tirz, and even he seemed like he didn't know much about it. We're educating the doctors with our own experiences!

Oh wow, I feel this. I’m on Tirz too and losing hair like crazy. My ponytail is half what it was! 😩 I’m upping protein, adding collagen, and started iron + biotin hoping it helps. Also hesitant about minoxidil but considering rosemary oil. If you find something that works, please share!

Well I'm still shedding a lot more than normal and I have a lot less hair, but it's looking better. I've been on the Nutrafol vitamins for older women for about 5-6 weeks and the thin texture of my hair seems better (like at the temples/top crown area), like it's filling out with a little growth.

I've also been taking collagen powder for ~6-7 weeks and I could tell right away my nails grew longer and stronger, they'd always chip and break before. Maybe it has some effect on my hair too but hard to tell. Trying to increase protein with those 26g and 42g protein shakes from Fairlife, also eating more cottage cheese and yogurt. But I hate tracking anything so I'm estimating I'm adding ~30-50g daily more than before.

The funny part about having a lot less hair than before is my natural waves and curls are coming out. Before, I had so much hair and it was so dense that the sheer weight of it just made it frizzy and wiry. Like the extra ventilation lets the curls spring to life instead of being squashed by a heavy mat of hair.

I lost about a 1/3 of my hair. I've been on GLP1s/ GIPs for 4 years now, currently maintenance. With time the shredding will stop and you will get back most of your hair. What helped me most, which I read your doing is- collagen & protein, vitamins (mainly zinc, D+K2 and selenium- alternating days for selenium). I also did Rogaine for a year, I had a lot of growth the 6 months in, but it gave me chest pain and headaches, hated it. I added GHK- Cu injections (4 months ago) for when I quit Rogaine out of fear of losing even more hair, and it worked because I have an TON of little baby hairs sprouting everywhere and I did not have crazy hairl0ss stopping the Rogaine. I've had friend that take oral Minoxidil meds and they love it.

Tirz, perimenopause, and this hair loss is no joke! I’ve got four kids and I swear I’m shedding more than the dog. You’re doing all the right things, but check your iron and ferritin. Low levels can make it worse.

Rosemary oil might help, and while Minoxidil freaks me out too, a lot of women swear by it.

Hoping this shed slows down soon for both of us! 💖
