HELP me out: Women's Hair loss from Tirz

2 weeks in on Nutrafol.
I am 55 and have dealt with alopecia since my early 30's. Dermatologist did a biopsy to confirm diagnosis. I have used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner off and on for years. I do believe it is smart to rotate shampoos as my hair can become limp. Though I do not do this enough, I know massaging your head is very important to provide more blood flow. Minoxidil was too strong for my scalp. My scalp was bright red and hurt. Long story short I could not continue. I have had another major shed and my new dermatologist suggested the foam version of Minoxidil. It is much more gentle on your scalp. I also added Nutrifol for three months. Well, $75 a month is too much for me and I did not see results so I changed to Weem hair gummies at $25 a month. I also do red light from time to time. I have learned a lot about red light with my Body Contouring business. Watch for Amazon's Prime Sale and you can buy red light equipment at a great price. For me, I feel Weem is helping me better than Nutrifol (compare ingredients) and I like the price. I recently added essential oils into my regimen. (I do not have feedback on that yet.)

I am really excited to try the cocktail of GHK-Cu and BPC-157. I have not ordered yet but it's on my "to do list".

I swear by ghk cu and bpc-157(injection). I take it 5 days a week. It has been really helping me. I also take, One A Day complete multivitamin (zinc, folate, biotin, 1.35mg copper, plus others)and love them! I hope that you find something that truly helps you too!

I am on sema (over 3 years) and last June or July my hair (at 53) started coming out like crazy. I always had the absolute thickest hair. I was also already on BHRT.. so she started doing bloodwork for my thyroid. I am on the lowest dose of T3 in the morning and T4 at night and I believe it has stopped. This all took a while to figure out as, you can see, I have a lot going on. I cried for days and days and days.... until I realized how much easier it was to actually dry my hair.

I still hate it... and I do KLOW, topical minoxidil, collagen, protein... you name it. It may be growing back, as I can see "baby hairs" but is has been the absolutely most depressing this about getting older.

Thank you for the reminder... I do need a good haircut. Hang in there. You are definitely not alone. I started crying, again, reading this... 💖

Nutrient deficiencies and malnutrition are a huge component of hair loss. The tirzepatide isn't the direct cause of your hair loss. Increase your protein and make sure you don't have any other deficiencies.

Are you taking it separately?

Yes, I am. I have a vial ghk cu and a vial of bpc-157. I'm a 54 yr old female and having my hair thin out so much, really makes me feel down. My hair looks more lively now (shiny and bouncy)and I'm getting baby hairs too, and the hair looks and feels a little thicker. I'm really happy with it. 👍

I lost a good bit of my hair too. I’ve been taking Nutrafol for a couple of months and haven’t seen much improvement. I feel that my hair is less brittle but I don’t know if the vitamins could have helped that. I am thinking about trying red light therapy.

Red light therapy? I'm not familiar with it. I'm getting curious now. I'm going to have to look it up. It's great losing weight, but surely sucks with these hair issues.

I’m 41 mine took almost a year then fell out like crazy. As well a dry brittle and Breaking so that was fun,.. I started taking a multi vitamin, upped how much I was eating, added in Wild yam cream (also perimenopausal), 5% minoxidil, micro needle weekly and baby the hair I have it’s looking so much better I cut it chin length since I have a ton of short hair where it’s coming back it finally looks healthy again.
Do a “How To” on micro needling! I take daily Vitamin E, Glutathione, Ascorbic Acid and Monixidil+Finesteride. One cool trick I can share with folks is I started taking daily Polybcom shots with Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid), and Vitamin B12.

I shit you not. The B5 is reversing my gray hair.

The B supplements truly do help. The Women's One A Day(6 key vital functions) has many of the essential complexes. Between the supplements and the ghk cu, it's really worth a try. I believe what @AndyPanda is saying about the reversing of the gray hair. They really are on to something 👍

Red light therapy is the real deal.

I don't think it can cure everything like some proponents claim, there are no miracle cures. But it does have some lab proven effects. Despite my own initial skepticism it has helped my skin and eye health. Pretty cool.

I even bought a spectrometer and a power meter so I could measure some cheap Amazon products to see if they put out useful power in the right wavelengths--they do.

Red light therapy is very interesting. It sounded like pure snake oil when I heard about it, but I was surprised to see there was real science behind it.

I have not used it for hair -- there is no hope for this balding old dude -- but it has been good for my skin and some aches and pains.

I have had good luck with inexpensive red light panels. Amazon often has devices with giant discounts -- from no-name sellers that will probably be gone soon -- but all this stuff is made in the same few factories so if you are smart and lucky, sometimes you can get a great deal. I've gotten a quality red light panel for as little as $20. But you need to have the means to test the devices, or find trustworthy reviews, to know what you are getting.

If you pursue red light therapy please be careful about what you buy. There are good deals out there, but there are also overpriced items plus absolute garbage that I wouldn't take for free.

As with any treatment you need to figure out the right dose too, which depends on the power of the device, distance, and what you are trying to treat. I can recommend further reading if anyone is interested. Or start a new thread and holler for me.
Seriously, red light therapy is the real deal. I've used it successfully for muscle aches, but my biggest surprise is it works wonderfully for canker and cold sores. I've gotten rid of both within 24-48 hours or prevented cold sores completely. I'm not sure about hair, but it's worth a try.

Been on Tirz for 7 months, lost 50 lbs, 35 to go. But my hair won't stop falling out in alarming amounts since ~December. The only reason it's not noticeable right away is that I had a TON of hair to start. But now when I gather into a pony tail, the volume is noticeably MUCH thinner. I'm certain it's from Tirz, but to compound the problem, I'm 47 and also in perimenopause, so that is not helping.

It just won't stop falling out. Like a tribble's worth of hair comes out every time I shower, clogs the drain if I don't pull it out into the trash as I go. It's not only gross, but it's starting to freak me out. I've got expensive-ass vitamins (Nutrafol) ordered, started adding bovine collagen peptides to my coffee, trying to prioritize my daily protein. I take the GLOW protocol 5x/week. And I just started low-dose estrogen patches (.025 mc 2x/wk) and compounded testosterone cream (.5gram 1x/wk) from my menopause specialist.

Anyone tried anything that works?

I wanted to stay away from oral or topical minoxidil because I heard that once you start, you need to take it indefinitely and that even more shedding will happen at the beginning.
A tribble's worth! LOL

I started losing my hair in Peri. I had super-thick curly hair. I'm now post-menopausal, and I have thinner, straightish, frizzy hair. It sucks. I think medications sometimes exacerbate what is already happening. I went on anti-depressants to help me from losing my mind due to my elderly mother with dementia coming to live with us. That triggered female pattern baldness. Same as male, just in a female. It's awful. I now have to wear a hair topper. You might want to go see a dermatologist and have your scalp tested. I have an appointment in July. You may as well start minoxidil to try to keep what you have until the derm can see you. I wish I had done that early on. Even if I have to continue using it for the rest of my life, it's not that big a deal. Use it when I wake up, and then before I go to bed. I only started this a month ago, so it's too soon to tell if it's helping. You can try OTC supplements and rosemary oil, etc. But none of those ever made a difference for me. I just lost more hair. But, I discovered ponytail and hair extensions and my hair always looks fabulous now! I get lots of compliments. It does make me feel sort of sneaky because I know it's not real. But I'm not going to walk around looking like Friar Tuck with a big bald ring on top of my head!

I'm in a similar boat. Did a bunch of research. I take a hair/nails biotin vitamin along with my high quality daily, but most of the solutions seem like snake-oil to me. Now that I'm out of the 'latest and greatest diet plan' game I've been playing for the last 20 years, I'd like to decline being taken advantage of further. Same thing with loose skin - the solution seems to be time (maybe) and surgery. My plan is to embrace the entire spectrum of the 'gifts' of this medicine and spend my money on clothes and accessories to focus on the positive.
Hair extensions in the form of ponytails and messy buns are game changers! I never have a bad hair day anymore.

And... can I ask which unit you bought? I have a knee wrap for my son... maybe he should try it on his face, too? 😉

Hi , congratulations on your weight loss!

A couple of things that have helped my hair loss is Vitamin D, Iron ( found out ferritin was non existent ) and upping my protein intake. Each time my body has went through a major ordeal I’ve experienced shedding. ( Weight loss, surgery, certain meds )

Unfortunately it’s sometimes trial and error and takes time. You’ve got some good feedback here. Good luck to you!

I work at a hair salon. Most of our clients are on nutrafol. You can buy it at Amazon. Also. Oribe sells a shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray that stops hair loss, promotes new hair growth and gives you volume. If you can’t afford the shampoo and conditioner, get the treatment spray bc that you leave in compared to the shampoo and conditioner. It’s called serene scalp densifying treatment spray. The dark purple bottle. I would not get it off Amazon bc people water it down. You have to buy from a legit distributor.

Yep
Can I ask where you are getting them from? Thanks for the help. 💖
Temu (not so much right now because of the tariffs, but local Temu still has good prices) and Amazon. I don't usually get the ones with real hair. They are inexpensive enough that I have a ton of them. That's a cheap topper for my bangs. I French braided my hair, and have a long curly extension wound around the tail. I use the spiral clips (Amazon) to keep it in place.

I have several. Yes. You can use it on your face. When I have time, I just sit under the whole thing. but I'm not as dedicated as I should be. I need to put myself on a schedule.

This one can be taken off the stand and used around your waist. I have this one as well

The first one is the one I bought for my son previously. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the links! 💖

These look great! I have a bunch in my cart but was scared to pull the trigger. I bought my mom a hair topper off Amazon and she sent it back... but with how inexpensive these are I just need to order a few. Thank you!

You can always send them back if they don't work. I dye my hair to match my natural black/brown color since I have some gray. I use a shampoo dye. It's very convenient. I hope they work as well for you as they do for me.

Hopefully once you’ve been on the hormones for a bit that will help things. Happened to me to.
