Hey over 50 ladies! Get in here, Let's talk

I'm almost 50. What has worked for peri symptoms? I'm desperate right now. I already went to my gyno last year and they just gave me birth control pills which I didn't like. They said they could not advise hrt because I was still having a period.

But anyway,I'm looking at various otc estrogen creams and wondering if any of those make sense or should I get real estrogen from indiamart.
I've spent the last year and a half dialing in my thyroid and it's made a huge difference. I'm in the very last stage of peri now though, so I have a little bit of symptoms like hot flashes and middle of the night insomnia. I also have night time congestion that makes me snore, so I started taking a zyrtec before bed and not only do I no longer snore, but it makes me sleepy enough that I fall back asleep after waking. My dr said he'd start HRT for me at the next appointment since my hormones were so low, I'm at the point of no return I guess. I haven't had a period in almost 3 months now.

We finally started reta on Saturday at a tiny dose (had a delay since my dog got sick and we moved the oldest back home after he graduated). Surprisingly, I already notice reduced hunger. My husband and son also started it.

Hiyo is a drink that is sparkling water and fruit extracts and adaptogenics added like mushroom extracts and Ashwaganda, which is known for it's calming effects and for thwarting cortisol. I use it as a sub for evening wine I used to drink too much of.
I forgot to add sugar spikes trigger cortisol. so avoiding sugars and refined straches also helps.
I successfully avoided menopause for a couple of years taking herbal supplements they sell over the counter. The names slip my mind at the moment.
The names were Estroven, and Amberen. The Estroven worked well prevented hot flashes at leats and my periods were regular. They eventually got very heavy, and the Menopause commenced. I wish I had known and been able to start HRT sooner.

👋 fellow 50 something ladies!
I am fairly new to the forum and not as active here as I'd like but I try to check in at least every few days.

I am a month shy of 54, and had gone over a year without a period. My PCP didn't care one bit when I mentioned that my libido and orgasms had simply disappeared! Im so glad I started bioidentical HRT with pellets plus progesterone a low dose of desiccated thyroid right around the beginning of the year, thanks to my functional/wellness practitioner, and WOW! What a game changer to feel like my old self!

The same practitioner (PA) recommended peptides and I started very slowly and cautiously on Reta in early March.

I was patient and did only 1mg once a week for 4 weeks, only lost 2lbs.
Then I did 2mg once a week for 4 weeks, only lost 6lbs.
No real side effects so I decided to go for it and began 2mg twice a week- Wed/Sat. I finally felt real appetite suppression! I then lost 10lbs the 3rd month!
I'm still the same weight for the last week so today I bumped up to 3mg twice a week (1st dose). I've been loving the effects overall- I have ADHD, (as well as PTSD, OCD, and anxiety- I'm a service connected disabled veteran). I swear the Reta just makes me feel calm and content, and I sleep just fine!

I also did a half a dozen 5mg MotsC injections spaced out every five days in the 3rd month and I'm gearing up to do a mitochondrial reset with SS-31, MotsC and NAD+.

My next favorite peptide is KPV. I've been taking a small dose every day for a couple weeks and my skin feels "velvety soft."

I listened to a podcast about menopause and HRT that really opened my eyes, I highly recommend ALL ladies over 40 check it out!
It's called the "You are not broken" podcast with Dr Kelly Casperson, episode 225, entitled Boomers should be pissed! It could change your life, too, so please take a listen!

My heaviest weight was 228, I started this year (and ironically last Jan too) at 225, started Reta at 222, currently 204 but expect to lose another couple pounds this week. My goal is to weigh 135 or at least be under 150 since I'm only 5'3". I have a lot of muscle so I should weigh 135 for 20% bf which is my true goal, I'm currently at around 47% according to my Renpho scale.

I got a mini trampoline and started just doing gentle bouncing ten min a day, a few times a week, plus I do my favorite calisthenics like push ups, bench dips, air squats, and lunges. So far so good at maintaining my 107lbs of lean body mass with no muscle loss so far.

My 27yo son (Birdwhacker here) currently lives with us and he has become my peptide guru, researching endlessly and drawing up what I need- I just supply the funds lol. I'm currently trying to stack up a few thousand milligrams of Reta since I'm on it for the long haul! I'm thinking it's going to take around a year to lose the total 90lbs I'd like to lose, plus maintenance after that.

It's great to meet all you fine ladies here!
