HOSPIRA changes in availability

For those interested in making their own. Based on my research you need to obtain WFI quality water. WFI stands for Water for Injection.

You could then add benzyl alcohol as a preservative to allow storage and use. Adding precisely enough benzyl to get to 0.9 percent. I'd recommend sterile vials to mix this in and keeping your workspace clean.

Don't use tap, distilled or other types of water. You might not get sick from it, but it ain't right. If you mix your benzyl and WFI water together, it still isn't as good as USP-grade Hospira branded water. But head and shoulders better than most other recipes I see posted.

Just received my case, I figure I have a buffet of BAC for 24 months, all I will use for $5 a month.
It is not that big of an investment in peace of mind.
Also, by the time I run out there will likely be a new solution/vendor.

I could have likely bought less and been ok.

I received this email from the company I purchased mine from (cue Amazon fraudsters):

I want to inform you of an important update that will impact the ability to order certain Pfizer-produced products, including Hospira brand Bacteriostatic Water.

Starting July 2025, Pfizer is requiring that either a DEA License or an NPI Number be on file for any distributor to fulfill orders of their products. This is part of their updated product tracing protocols and will be enforced across all distributors, not just us here at AMSCO Medical.

As this change could affect your access to Hospira Bacteriostatic Water moving forward, I highly recommend reviewing your credentials and considering a stock-up while inventory is readily available. The current lot expiration date on our Bacteriostatic Water is October 2026.

To take advantage of the price provided below please call/text [admin removed contact info] or email me to place your order. We have not updated this online as we are offering this to our current customers first.

I'm sure China has a hospira equivalent that they sell in cases. Surely it's easier and less dangerous to source than roids and research chems.

Perhaps it is a profitability issue, maybe the "good" water they have does not get sent from the same manufacturer/Vendor? or just so many Hospira believers.

There were some posts of people who did extensive testing with negative results and so it has not been a popular item, and the not being any $$ in it for the vendors does not help.

I'm still working through a few vials of Hospira that expired in Sept 2023, and then I have a bunch that expired in 2024 to go through. It could easily be a year or more before I use an unexpired vial (which I don't actually own any atm lol).

Even though I really don't know what's going on behind the scenes with the stuff, I suspect a lot of it can be attributed to people panic buying and hoarding the stuff whenever there's a minor interruption in availability. I looked around last night and there are still a lot of places selling individual vials of Hospira in the $12-$15/vial range which while a little steep is still easier on the wallet than buying a case of 25 at top dollar in a panic IMHO.
It sounds like you get great shelf/usuable life from your vials of BAC water. Do you pin every time or use a valve spike on your BAC water? Do you have any other recommendations on longevity? Thanks!

IMHO spikes are possibly even more stupid than pens lol. 🤣 Unless someone is sharing a vial with others (and even then...), I don't see a need for one. I just stab a needle into the stopper each time, which is probably once every week to 10 days and usually 1ml/ea so ~25 times (I usually draw a hair over 1ml).

Best advice I can give is practice good hygiene, store in a cool dark place and in a room where nobody poops, and don't think about it too hard.

There can be a comfort factor though with pens since the needle hasn't punctured anything. But I haven't played around with them yet.

Even without a license, you can get a NPI on your own as a LLC, but I don't know the finer points and legal details. (Like I don't know if a caregiving company could get one, but I assume so. And there is the paperwork involved, so it would likely only be practical for someone who happens to have such a business.)
I have an NPI number. This is actually all I need? I'm in the medical field, a psychotherapist, but I do not write prescriptions and I don't have an llc as I work for a hospital system.

Can the case of bac water be purchased without a medical license from the two main places mentioned in this thread? Thank you

I'm trying to checkout on their website and it's asking for my medical license number
You can try ignoring that message and try to pay. If not, you can Google it. Google will show you some places where, you can purchase singles until, some other places that were mentioned restock. You can also, try those 2 places again tomorrow. Today is a holiday.

Here's me now feeling like a dumb girl, waiting breathlessly for (new to me) vial spikes to get here. Thanks. Kill joy.

Unfortunately while there are a lot of products out there that have perfectly valid purposes, many people (often with a financial interest/motivation) like to find a way to turn a product intended for a narrow set of circumstances into a "solution in search of a problem" for other uses. It's not that different from that peptide "testing" outfit that decided to get into the products and accessories business pushing 4mm syringe filters that no actual medical or scientific professional recommends. Because they got a crate of them at a huge discount, all of the sudden they start pushing them as the best "solution" to the 13mm filter size "problem" that never existed.

I'm moderately pro pen. I recon anywhere from 4-8 doses once. From then on instead of doing the syringe song and dance, I twist pen to exact units I want and inject, on net saving time and plastic waste.

Pros:
-to the unit accuracy independent of your skill at exactly drawing a syringe the to the millimeter
-faster than regular syringe by a little.

Con:
-learning curve
-initial pen cost.

I like pens for water carrier things with relatively low volume. Reta, HGH, GLOW, Glutathione
Vial spikes w/ filter for oils - test/deca for TRT, volume is too high for a pen to make sense
Insulin syringes for L-Carnitine because of the high volume

Yes trued then both and both want a medical license number and the price has gone up to almost $300 😔
Yes, the price did go up. I did notice that. If you can Google search, you will be able to find single vials. They are priced a little higher, too. One 30 ml vial should last you several months, almost a year, depending on how many peps/vials you have to reconstitute. Maybe you can get a single vials of bac for now. I would also try those places again tomorrow. You can also press the option to "get a quote" when you by in bulk. You might just be able to order. I hope that you find some.
