How many of you are filtering?

I don't filter. I absolutely understand why people do, but at some point I have to accept that risk can be reduced, not eliminated.

I use good sterile technique, i buy tested products...... then I go back to eating microplastics, shaking hands with toddlers, breathing exhaust, and pretending my coffee counts as a vegetable.

For me, hopefully this just isn't the hill I'm choosing to die on. šŸ˜„
bwhahahahha!!

I filter, but I freaking swear it feels like the tirz is less strong when I do. I know it’s not supposed to filter any of the peptides out. It’s probably in my head but I swear I feel a difference

I filter. I'm taking all these other steps for my good health: diet, movement, managing stress, etc. I'm spending next to nothing for šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ«‘šŸ«‘. If filtering will eliminate even 5% of the spectrum of risk, why wouldn't I? Filtering adds $1.12 to every aliquot. My peace of mind is worth spending an extra $1.12.

Girl, I smoked for nearly 30 years, quit at around 45, was vaping after that used to go to sleep holding my vape and wake up holding it. Finally went on a health kick and dropped the vape at 48, only 4 years ago. And I feel fucking marvelous. Do yourself a favor and drop that vape as soon as possible. It sucks, but feels amazing to be nicotine free.

And further, besides food and doomscrolling on my phone, that was rhe end of my real.addictions. the food is now handled, and I dont know what to do about the fucking phone addiction.
Thank you—for the words of encouragement and inspiration—from the bottom of my heart šŸ’œ My addictions to food and nicotine (true addictions, not like my gear and pep-shopping colloquial ā€œaddictionsā€) have given me a great deal of heartache and shame throughout my life. I too have fallen asleep holding my vape. I panic like a junkie when it gets lost in the covers.

Your words really hit home. In the last 18 minutes as I’ve been scrolling, I’ve wanted to reach for my vape 3 times. Each time I’ve thought ā€œGr33dy says I can do this.ā€ I’m going to get to 12:18pm before I pick it up again! Thank you. Thank you! I know I am a relative newbie here and we are ā€œgetting-to-know-youā€ internet strangers, but I literally have tears of gratitude running down my face right now. 🄹

Do you filter into a new, sterile vial? Or do you just use a filter on the needle when you inject?
Always filter into a new sterile vial (or sterile pen cartridge-what I do). Please do not use a filter when you inject. (i) it will cost a fortune to filter every injection. (ii) you will lose a decent bit of your pep in the filter unless you are flushing the filter into yourself (not a good idea). (iii) the increase pressure needed to push the solution through the filter could alter the injection in a negative way.

I always filter. It a small relatively inexpensive step to remove most "extras" that could be in the vial (yes, it doesn't remove endos). Anyone that has done sterility tests (or seen them) on peps, will see those often fail. Chinese warehouses where these grey compounds are produced are unlikely in clean-room conditions. Just a little extra safety step. I also use pens for everything, so I have to transfer from the vial to the cartridge anyway. No big deal to add a filter during that process.

Also, keep in mind that the alcohol in the bac is to protect the peptide, not you. It may keep any bacteria from growing and further damaging the pep, but not going to do anything to kill the bacteria before injecting it.

The number of videos/pics I've seen of people reconning peps and end up with stuff floating in them... Never experienced it myself, but for $0.50 and a couple extra needles, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Ahhhh, nice!! Good luck with that!...šŸ‘šŸ˜

couple extra needles
I have been curious about how many needles people end up using when filtering. I count 3-5. What is your needle count?
  1. 1 to vent the original vial
  2. 1 to draw from the original vial
  3. 1 to filter into the new vial / cartridge
  4. 1 to vent the new vial / cartridge (if you don't reuse)
  5. 1 for the bac flush chaser (if you do that)

(Sorry for the nicotine hijack everyone, but…) I did it! One waking, non-work hour without nicotine! I can’t recall the last time this has happened. 😊 Now rinse and repeat 😁

I don't think you vent the original vial (1)....and I just do an air flush with the filter (5)

This is going to be better than watching a sporting event on a Sunday afternoon! Plus, we all know who is everyone's favorite team!...So far, it's 1 to 0....Go Team Cat!!...šŸ‘

0. (1 to inject BAC, not counted as this has to happen anyway but this is how my brain works—must include all the steps! LOL I inject air rather than venting for equalizing pressure in the original vial when drawing. I also use this needle to draw from the original vial)
1. 1 to vent the new vial
2. 1 to attach to the filter and inject into the new cartridge/vial

Total needle count 3:
Total needle count for reconstituting alone: 2
Total ā€œadditionalā€ needles for filtering process: 1

So for me, filtering only adds the need for one extra needle šŸ™‚

I had this exact same thought when I started filtering.

After further thought I figured it was just the reduced response as you would expect as you take the 'tides over time.

Kinda like how you drop 4lbs a week the first month, 2lbs a week the 2nd month, 1.5lbs a week the 3rd month, like that.

But I'm not sure?

I'm due for a reconstitution in 2 weeks, maybe I'll skip filtering that vial, and see?

THANK YOU!!! I was just about to pick the vape up—after all I already had a major accomplishment—but this is giving me the fortitude to continue! And it’s the perfect day, because my vape is getting to that ā€œcomputer tasteā€ point and I was going to pick up a new one…but I’m going to stay strong for as long as possible imagining my forum friends in a virtual OTB watching me not vape!

I will also give myself grace if I succumb, BUT will insist that I have to not vape for at least 1 hr + n(10 minutes) with n being the amount of times I give in.

Hey nicotine!

No needle to vent original vial (its under vacuum, just hold the plunger to slow the water).

I recon several vials at once, so my numbers look like this:
1. To draw bac from vial (rather than constantly wiping and re-poking the bac vial over and over; I just disconnect the syringe and connect to a new needle)
2. Inject/draw from original pep vial
3. Vent new vial
4. Inject into new vial

You could use the same needle for 1 and 2, I'm just trying to reduce the number of times I'm piercing the bac vial.

So 1 for bac and 3 for each vial I'm reconning. I combine some into a single vial (i.e., cjc/ipa), so I'll reuse the inject/draw needle and only need 1 vent and 1 new inject needle since they are ultimately being filtered into the same sterile vial (after blending in one of the original vials).

Just got 100 30g needles on amazon for $9. So, $0.09 per needle. With the filter, that's under a dollar. Maybe add another dollar because you will need at least 1 syringe for clean bac (can use to flush too) and 1 syringe for draw from old vial/inject through filter.

@BNLFL turned me on to Biologix, who makes sterile 13mm PES 0.22 micron filters about $50 USD for 100. Don’t get non-sterile filters; it defeats the point and is a waste of money. Biologix shipped fast, and they’re a well-respected brand.
I just got 100 of these on sale during Amazon Prime Days and I like them better than the cobetter brand I been using.
